    We know this area very well and we loved this house with its period features, enclosed backyard and attractive well-maintained gardens. The two staircases to access the bedrooms was very convenient but please note that the description of the house fails to mention that the bunk room opens directly onto steep stairs, a hazard for small children. We solved this by buying a stair gate (Argos in Kendal) but perhaps the owner could consider providing one. The surfaces in the house were clean but other things were not (blankets in wardrobe were grubby). There was no heating and hot water when we arrived despite the controls indicating otherwise; bit of a brain teaser until we realised the boiler thermostat was turned to zero! Better house instructions would have been useful.
