The single storey property has been furnished and equipped to a good standard and is tucked away down a country lane in the beautiful Eden Valley. An abundance of wildlife is attracted to the water and the view through the large glass windows from the living room across the lake is delightful. There are seating areas dotted around the lake for relaxing and viewing. Nearby is the traditional market town of Kirkby Stephen which was the first town in Cumbria to be accredited with ’Walkers are Welcome’. There are many walking and cycling opportunities in the area plus the famous and scenic Settle to Carlisle railway line runs through Kirkby Stephen. The Eden Valley is perfectly placed for touring the Lake District Yorkshire Dales Teasdale and Durham Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish border. This is an outstanding property. It is extremely peaceful and has fabulous outdoor space. The lake is stunning and is a source of quiet entertainment day and night, with geese, ducks and a whole varied birds. Plus rabbits and hedgehogs. A great feeling of spaciousness inside and out. Highly recommended.

Very comfortable and warm stay. Wonderful scenery. Lovely spot to unwind relax and enjoy the wildlife. Owner could not do enough to help us as we stayed when there was flooding making it difficult to get in and out Would recommend this stay

Swallows Nest is a beautiful presented holiday home with all the facilities you need for a self-catering break. The house is decorated to a really high standard and is very warm and comfortable. There is no wifi (due to remote location) however we did not find this to be an issue - was lovely to truly get away from it all! We stayed over the New Year break, so the weather was not the best for taking advantage of long country walks etc, but Swallows Nest was lovely to just sit and relax in taking in the views over the lake and watching the abundant wildlife. Pubs and shops in nearby Kirkby Stephen were very nice, although we did need to drive (about 10 mins) to get there. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Swallows Nest and would love to return in the summer months.

Fabulous location. Peaceful & quiet. Convenient for The Lakes, the Yorkshire Moors, etc. Lots of local walks. Nice pubs, coffee shops, Chinese & Indian restaurants in nearby Kirkby Stephen. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, milk biscuits provided.

Clean & well equipped modern cottage in a great location surrounded by great countryside. Shame that there was no internet- only 3G (front), or 4G (lakeside) mobile phone service.

A beautiful cottage very homely. Everything you could need is in the cottage. The surrounding were lovely lots of wildlife and very peaceful.

    out of 10

A beautiful setting in a lovely home within easy reach of so many more lovely places. WiFi would add even more but still excellent.
