Petite in size but large in expansive views and stunning location, this cute cottage is a breath of fresh countryside air. The Cow Hide enjoys an elevated position within a small hamlet with stunning views across the Arun Valley towards Arundel Castle. With pastoral views directly in front of the cottage and easy pathways up to the South Downs this is an idyllic spot to appreciate all that the countryside has to offer. Guests will receive a breakfast hamper delivered to their door on each day of their stay as well as fluffy dressing gowns being provided for rest and relaxation. The intention is to provide you with a luxurious experience throughout your stay.

The cottage is all on one floor with a living area perfectly proportioned for two. A comfortable sofa is positioned so you can enjoy the views through the bi-fold doors. There is a television should you be able to drag yourself away from the countryside scenery. There is a breakfast table where you can enjoy the generous contents of the delicious breakfast hamper delivered daily by the owner. The kitchenette has a microwave for light meals but no cooker. However with all of the local dining options in Arundel and in the local surrounding villages it is unlikely you will even need this. The delightful double bedroom is a comfortable and restful space ideal to recover from your days sightseeing. The terrace has panoramic views encompassing everything from the local friendly cows, the wetlands and River Arun and Arundel Castle in the distance. With outside seating available it is truly the perfect spot for a glass of wine and to enjoy a relaxing evening.

Wepham has an exceptional position set high above the River Arun and overlooks the historic town of Arundel. Walking further from Wepham you will find Burpham which is the end of the trail! A delightful village with attractive period properties and a Norman church which is definitely worth a visit for the views across the South Downs alone. Burpham has a very popular local hostelry which is a delightful gastro pub and a local favourite. Arundel sits between the South Downs National Park and the Sussex coastline and offers Georgian and Victorian buildings to the impressive Arundel Castle which is the seat of the Duke of Norfolk and an abundance of restaurants, tea rooms and boutique home and antique shops. Arundel Castle is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art in stunning rooms. The 11th-century Keep has amazing views over Arundel, the South Downs and towards the Sussex coast. There are 131 steps to climb in order to get to the top and it’s well worth the effort. The Arundel Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust is more than 60 acres of ponds, lakes and reed beds which make it a magnet for wildlife and attracts some of the worlds most spectacular ducks, geese and swans. Why not take a river cruise to enjoy everything that this stunning stretch of river has to offer?

A stop off at the Black Rabbit pub is a must with lovely decking over the river and a chance to spot the local wildlife whilst enjoying a light lunch. Just a short drive and you can be enjoying the delights of Climping Beach and Littlehampton’s West Beach which are beautiful and unspoilt. Sometimes all you crave is a bit of space and the simple sounds of the ocean. The local cafe will serve up a hot drink and food along with a warm welcome which you can enjoy while taking in the coastal views or watching the windsurfers and kitesurfers.

The nearby Goodwood estate is renowned for their wonderful motor sports meetings the Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival which boast an intoxicating mix of cars, stars and motorsport royalty. For the equine lovers amongst you there is also Glorious Goodwood with five days of thrilling horse-racing action set against the magnificent backdrop of the rolling Sussex countryside, one of the sporting and social highlights of the flat-racing season. The cathedral city of Chichester is nearby with its ancient city walls and many museums and galleries. There are also plenty of good shops and restaurants and the Chichester Festival Theatre is worth booking due not only to the quality of productions but the fact many world premieres are featured here.
