Odd, is the way I look back on our whole Cwtch experience....
To put into context, we had a three night stay here at the beginning of May, at considerable cost - for the price, for one bedroomed self-catering, you'd expect something fairly special.
It is a lovely place, very peaceful and quiet, very spacious, with some really nice features, like the wood burner that heats both the main living space and the bedroom, and of course the hot tub.
However, there were quite a lot of things that showed lack of care from the owners. These included:
*The shelf on the bottom of the inside of the fridge door (where you'd put your milk and wine) being absent - this was noted in a review from LAST AUGUST, and was a real pain);
*The hangers in the wardrobe were a mismatch of cheap black plastic ones from assorted shops;
*The bathroom mirror light didn't work, which meant visibility was poor. Quite a few other lights didn't work either;
*There was no handsoap of any description in the bathroom (and I note one of the gallery photographs actually suggests a hamper of products!!!);
*The kitchen top mini-freezer looked like it hadn't been defrosted in a good long time, which is a bit of an issue when it's only v small in the first place;
*No wood or firelighters left out for us - we had to improvise!
*No kitchen roll - who doesn't have a kitchen roll in their kitchen?
This isn't an exhastive list, just a selection of the ones I can remember. None of these issues of course individually is a big deal - we holiday in self-catering accomodation in the UK a lot, and know that these kind of things happen, to a greater or lesser extent. However, when you're paying top rate for a place you feel you have a right to expect more.
None of the above, however, is my biggest gripe. The owners didn't come across whilst we were there (which in itself I don't mind, as [giving the benefit of the doubt] they may have been respecting our privacy). Had they done so, we'd have given them face-to-face feedback. But as they didn't, instead we left them a sheet of paper with our constructive 'suggestions' for how they could make their guests' experience that little bit better. This was just for them, we didn't put any negative comments in the guest book, or anything like that. In fact our comments in the guest book, and indeed our comments topping and tailing our list of 'suggestions', were entirely positive and complimentary.
Rather than thanking us for making the effort to give detailed feedback, we heard nothing. I can only assume that the owners, and Nerys in particular, took great offence, given her subsequent behaviour......
Unfortunately, my wife left a couple of washbags, and a new top there. Not ideal, but hey, these things happen. Easily sortable, though, yes? Owners parcel them up, take them to the post office, we pay the postage. Oh no.....My (oh so polite) wife left messages, and voicemails, all unreturned (which is unbelievably rude and ignorant). Finally, a WhatsApp message finally did get a response, presumably because Nerys knew that my wife would know when that had been read (which is precisely why my wife resorted to WhatsApp!). Eventually, over THREE WEEKS after we left, and after a load of unnecessarily wasted time on my wife's part, her items were returned. Hurrah!
So, to summarise, lovely cottage, but needs more time and effort spent on the 'guest experience' to justify its inflated cost. And, from our experience, rude and thoughtless owner(s).
