Set behind the owner’s home, The Hayloft (ref UK10201) is a converted, semi-detached property, located in the simply stunning, Dorset village of Milton Abbas. Mid-way between the Dorset county town of Dorchester and the market town of Blandford Forum. The picture-postcard village of Milton Abbas with its 36 almost identical thatched roofed cottages, an Almshouse, church and local pub, were constructed in a Georgian gothic-style in the 1780’s, after the owner of Milton Abbas said the old location of the village was ruining his view from the abbey, and therefore the local village was moved to its current location.
Milton Abbas hosts an 18th-century historic country fair every 2 years, where they celebrate the rebuilding of the present village. This event attracts thousands of visitors and is one of the key events in the Dorset calendar.
Milton Abbas is in an ideal location for exploring the Dorset countryside and many tourist attractions on offer. Milton Abbey is open for visitors as is Athelhampton House and Kingston Lacey. There is also the world famous Cerne Abbas Giant. Just a short drive away, you can find yourself in the Dorset coastal resorts of Poole, Bournemouth, Swanage and Weymouth, all of which offer water sports, beaches, locally sourced fish and chips and Dorset cream teas. Don’t miss the unique and iconic geological Dorset coastline where you can find Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door along the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. Beach 17 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
