    The cottage is in a great location and has huge potential but it is unfulfilled potential. The photos are old and the cottage is in need of updating. It looks like every time something has broken the owner has taken something from home to replace it - mismatched/scratched plates, blunt knifes, only a couple of teaspoons but loads of (mismatched) other cutlery...you get the idea. It does have cocktail glasses and loads of (mismatched) wine glasses but no cheese grater! The photos don’t show how small the space is either. There was a table in the kitchen that had to be folded after each use as there isn’t room to leave it up and it only seats two really, not four plus the chairs aren’t from the same set as the table and are too low. The level of cleanliness was poor too, especially given the pandemic and the fact the cottage only had one family in there before us for months. There’s mould in the bathroom and the twin bedroom. The windows are filthy and kitchen cupboards had food splatters on them. I didn’t contact the cleaner while we were there as I didn’t want someone else coming into the space so I was glad I’d taken my own cleaning materials. If this is what is classed as four star cottage, I don’t want to stay in a three star one!!

    Loved the cottage, good location, clean and well equipped. Fenced garden with outside table and chairs, ideal if you have a dog. I will be going again. Parking space for 2 cars. The cottage is at the top of a steep hill, so anyone with fitness/health issues may struggle with this.

    Lovely cottage in a great location for local walks. Parking spaces were just 30 seconds walk away. Only 5 mins walk to Bowness. We will be back.

    Was a lovely cottage great location however the heating was on a timer could of been left on a little longer considering we was in the winter months. I would stay again in the summer I do think the living room needs a repaint though.

    It was awesome! Perfect location, grwat condition and had everything we needed. Only thing is the tv didn't work, we didn't really need it though

    Had an excellent stay here and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Would like to go back in the summer but note it is only let out for a minimum of seven nights. Fantastic accommodation, spacious and everything you need.

    Cosy little cottage with a lovely scenic view. The photos of the garden doesn’t do it justice as it was perfect for our dog. The main issue with this property is it is on an extremely steep hill. We had seen reviews stating this before our stay but we didn’t realise how steep it actually was! Apart from that being right in Bowness for this price is fantastic. We found the master bedroom to be really damp meaning you would wake up feeling really congested and your clothes would also feel damp. The cottage has a lot of things you will need - iron, ironing board, even a dishwasher with liquid gel to put it in. There was a washing machine but no washing powder. Salt provided but no pepper etc. We had issues with the gas cooker the first couple of days. The hob would only light on a really low heat which was impossible to cook on so a lot of the food we brought went to waste / we took back home. There were work men working on pipes underground right outside and you could smell the gas as you passed so maybe it was something to do with this. A couple of days later it was working again. The cottage has lots of board games and puzzles which was a nice touch for the nights in we had. The WiFi works great so I would recommend taking a firestick/something to connect to the tv to watch, although there are dvds and a DVD player. The living room wasn’t the comfiest, as the photographs haven’t been updated. There is one small 2 seater leather couch, and 2 small leather armchairs, so wasn’t the comfiest to relax at night. The property really does need two small couches as in the photographs currently on the website. I think this is a perfect property for 2 people to stay in with a pet should they have a level of fitness to tackle the hill. I don’t think it is suitable for 4 people given the size/furniture that’s currently in there. In all honesty the hill it sits on would probably put us off booking again, although we did enjoy our stay here. No checkout time was provided so we just assumed it was 10am, and there is also no recycling bins so we didn’t know what to do with our bottles/cardboard.

    Cottage very basic and could do with some TLC. Poor shower and certain areas could certainly be cleaner! Disagree with the 4 star grading, not up to the standard you would normally expect with a 4 star property. However it’s in a lovely location and we enjoyed our break.

    Excellent location right by the entrance to the Dales Way. Went with our dog and had a very comfortable week. The shower could do with upgrading as the power is very poor. Not what we needed after a day out walking. Parking was very convenient and it was quiet all week.

    This was our second time staying at this cottage which is lovely and cosy and has lovely views over Bowness-on-Windermere. Well equipped with decent WiFi and central but quiet position. The only downside is the very steep hill so need a degree of fitness. There is a lovely patio and garden area which has the sun most of the day when it decides to shine.
