Folkton Cottages are situated in the small village of Folkton just inland between the coastal resorts of Scarborough and Filey. All three properties are situated in a peaceful setting, with easy access on to the Wolds Way for walking and cycling. This is a perfect rural retreat set amongst a small woodland and fields beyond. Each cottage has its own private section of the gardens. The Lodge is situated the other side of the archway to Stable Cottage. Again finished to a very high standard with all mod cons, it has a summerhouse where you can sit and watch the wildlife on the pond.
Within reach you have easy access to the east coast and the North York Moors. Filey is only five miles away with its Victorian promenade and wide sandy beach, ideal for children. Scarborough, Whitby and Bridlington are also worth a visit. In less than an hour you can be in the centre of York, a beautiful historic city with lots of attractions such as the minster, the Railway Museum and the Viking centre. The vibrant nightlife in York is also worth a visit with many real ale pubs as well as sophisticated wine bars and restaurants. Bempton Cliffs is a few minutes’ drive away where you will find the RSPB bird sanctuary. Observe puffins and guillemots in their natural habitat as well as seals and dolphins. Why not take the steam train from Pickering to Whitby passing through the moors filled with heather calling off at Goathland made famous in the TV programme ‘Heartbeat’. Enjoy an evening out at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, famous for most of the world premieres of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays.
Whichever cottage you choose to stay in you are assured a wonderful holiday.
The Lodge can be booked with The Stable Cottage (CC244050) and The Woodlands Cottage (CC244069) to accommodate up to 12 guests.

We found the property rather dark. However, it was well fitted out, clean and comfortable. A bit out of the mainstream but if you like rural then you would like this.

The Lodge is a modern spacious apartment in a nice quiet location but within easy reach of both coastal and inland attractions. The only slight negative is the fact that the surrounding trees make it rather dark - we had to have the lights on even on the sunniest day. Car parking could be a little tight - we were fortunate that the adjacent apartment was unoccupied. It is a pity that there was no guest book where information could be exchanged - this seems to be a trend in properties we have stayed in recently.

Very nice cottage, lovely and clean, kids loved watching the wildlife and the animals in the nearby fields only things stop it being a 10 would be better showers (electric not being very good), bath is not full size and in the summer with no heating on wasn't easy to dry towels after shower or bath.

A spacious, comfortable and modern cottage set in nice grounds. There are 2 other properties in the same building but it still feels very private and secluded. The caretaker was very attentive - even brought another bottle of wine along with the fresh bedding for our 2nd week! There are 2 bathrooms which is unusual for this kind of property. Unfortunately one of the showers broke down while we were there but again, the caretaker did her upmost to try and resolve the problem, getting an electrician to attend promptly. Lots to do within easy driving distance and the local village pub (10/15 min walk) did nice food with massive portions at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely week, the adjoining apartment's bedroom was above the kitchen and you could hear them walking around not to bad with one small child may be different if there are more. A small problem with a light fitting which was being repaired after our stay.

Beautiful place I didn't want to leave. The cottage is gorgeous and really well equipped nice touch with bottle of wine, biscuits & milk left for us. Loved the grounds and the horses, cows, sheep and all the other animals around it was idyllic. Honestly can't wait to return real soon. It was exeptional. Also the pub down I the village was lovely and great value for money and huge meals.

Good location very quiet yet only 200yds from a main road the cottage is very well appointed excellent kitchen even has built in bean to cup coffee maker. Proper divan beds NOT the usual cheap pine beds really comfortable with ensuite in both bedrooms. Only 10 mins to large supermarket with two good local pubs would stay here again without hesitation

There was a leak in one of the toilets and a constantly dripping tap in the kitchen. We appreciate that we were renting during a public holiday but it was clear that the leak to the toilet was historic and should have been fixed prior to our arrival. A plumber did visit on the first working day after the holiday but the leak was still apparent. We feel that these issues detracted fro what was otherwise a good property.

We stayed in the Lodge a 2 bedroomed cottage there was plenty of space for 2 children 1 baby and 2 adults. The acomodation was perfect...The owners couldn't have done anything better than what we got. It's fully equipped like been at home. The cottage was welcoming with milk, bicuets and a bottle of wine. Thank You for make the children's half term holiday great. X ???
