Our review reflects our stay being made very uncomfortable due to the fact the Lodge was invaded by hundreds of dead/alive lady birds, I mean hundreds! despite reporting to reception and promised a cleaner nobody came. It was obvious by the numerous dead lady birds that this was an ongoing problem. This left us to vacuum up EVERY DAY and this is not what you go away for, this did not keep the ladybirds under control, they were even found in the bedding, all drinks had to be covered Also there was a pair of underpants visibly left under a dressing table, two loaves of bread and other items of food left in a kitchen cupboard which beggars the question about the standard of cleaning here. Also there was no information pack i.e for the alarm, television pin.

Stunning home and gardens, easy to find and well furnished. Helpful hotel staff and easy check in and out. Wifi and internet access was limited and at some times did not work at all, which affected watching films or TV. I would perhaps have a DVD player for times the internet drops out as at points we couldn't watch anything or have music on. The decoration is beautiful and the house is warm, inviting and comfortable.

We stayed at the lodge for a 60th birthday weekend. Upon arrival the lodge was freezing and there was no logs to start a fire and it did state on our email there should be enough logs for our whole stay. The central heating also didn't work. We called the help number and someone came to try to work the heating. Still didnt work ans promised he would be back in the morning with logs as we have brought some by this point. No one turned up. We called again and again. Finally the manager turned up at 5pm with logs but still couldn't get the heating on. Thr heating finally. Came on during the night and turned off in the morning. There was also not adequate kitchen items. Lady bird and fly infestation in the master bedroom. Not very clean as loads of large cobwebs everywhere. Also Netflix didn't work as it said too many people was already using it.

Quirky accommodation in good location.
Quirky interesting house that we loved. Downside at the weekend was constant background noise from Donington racecourse.
