What a place The Mill is! It was incredible and a privilege to stay in such an important part of history. On arrival we were unable to access the property as the previous tenants had left the place in a mess and broken several things including the door handle! However we were made very welcome by the owner and the knowledgeable cleaner! I do think The Mill would benefit from having more than one pair of hands cleaning the property after each stay as it’s a colossal place and a lot for one person in such a short space of time. Unfortunately the dish washer was not working, which was frustrating as we’d seen this was the case on a previous review and clearly hadn’t been dealt with. The only other gripe we had was the lack of “Welcome Basket”. We have stayed in many properties over the country and have been met with some super welcome packs, including one for the dog sometimes too! But when we arrived there was nothing.... it even a tea bag or milk! Very disappointing after a 7 hour drive! Other than that The Mill was fantastic! It’s a huge property that felt like home for the week. We can’t wait to return!

The overriding smell of the septic tank/cess pit which vented at ground level to the side of the kitchen and bedroom wafting through the property marred our enjoyment of this quirky property. Sadly on the hottest day of the year the windows needed to be closed. Sitting outside was equally unpleasant. Several of the soft furnishing were stained and dirty, the floor rugs too. The dinner plates were too big for the dishwasher which didn't matter as the dishwasher didn't work. Fortunately only there for a short break with family.

If you want to stay somewhere going back to 1620 with all the amenities of 2018 in something gently cared for this is the place for you. When we arrived we wondered if we had done the right thing, but once inside, well you can't describe it. Very clean with all mod cons good quality. Total reality. Enjoy. You will.

We had a lovely stay at the Mill which is full of character. The building is old and quirky which creates a lovely atmosphere especially in front of the fireplace. We would come again and recommend.

The mill is looking tired and could do with renovating.

Nice cottage but you need to be careful on the stairs as they are not even, level and a bit slippery (but then it is an old place and is to be expected). It was very interesting to be able to look at the old mill workings still in place. We stayed for a weekend break on 14th December 2017 and there wasn't any festive decorations...which was disappointing as it was December, I understand that most cottages do not have a tree with lights as could be a hazard...but come on just a few festive ornaments would have been nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay at The Mill.
