The property is centrally located off Kirkby Lonsdale’s main street, through a small ginnel onto Salt Pie Lane, formerly known as ‘Cattle Market Yard’. The lane had a change of name in 1911 after an enterprising lady living in the yard made hot salted mutton pies to sell to the passing trade. After filling up from the delicious pies, it was necessary to take a short stroll to the nearest pub to quench their thirst!
