Of course, when the weather is fine and dry, a variety of low and high level fell walks and cycle routes can be enjoyed from the doorstep of The Nook by all the family but occasionally, it may just rain and there are plenty of indoor activities to sample in that case; The Climbing Wall, a new facility offering climbs for all abilities and from age 5 in a supervised environment or why not take in a film at one of Zeffirelli’s cinemas and enjoy a ’meal deal’ at the same time.

The thoughtful owners have provided a selection of Julia Bradbury guide books and DVDs for your enjoyment which may just whet your appetite for getting on your boots and out onto the fells and a DAB radio so you can keep a check on the forecast for the days ahead. Blessed with ample parking for up to 3 cars and an enclosed courtyard seating area, The Nook is the perfect village based accommodation, a real home from home in which to spend a rather special Lakeland holiday with your loved ones. This is our fourth stay at 'The Nook'. For us it is a comfortable, cosy well equipped property in a central location with 'off street' parking. Although it is located in the centre of Ambleside it is very quiet, in addition, the location means there are a number of walks on the doorstep, so we do not need to drive anywhere before we begin our walking. We would highly recommend this property and we are already checking out dates for next years visit!

We had a great time here. We spend a week every year in Ambleside. The Nook is a bit expensive for just the two of us but it was nice to be able to spread out and be comfortable. A parking space in Ambleside is a must and the Nook delivered on this for us. We had our bikes with us as well so was really useful to have a secure storage for them. Great location and we’ll be back to the Nook next year if it’s available when we want to go.

A semi-detached cottage in the middle of Ambleside’s one-way system. Good parking & very useful outside boot room. A well equipped kitchen. Comfortable living room & compact bedrooms with comfortable beds. Third twin bedroom is up very steep stairs with attached sink/toilet: great for those it suits. Lovely outside seating to the front. We would be happy to return, thank you.

The cottage was very comfortable and in a great location. It was very helpful to have parking too. It was well equipped with everything you could need. There were excellent guides to the cottage provided Our only slight criticisms would be that the en-suite shower had very low pressure but this was not a problem as there was another shower which worked better.

Lovely house close to village amenities. Very thoughtfully appointed, including soap in bathrooms and all cleaning stuff and cloths in kitchen. Loads of crockery and cutlery too so could use the dishwasher and still have enough to eat with. Big kitchen/dining table to eat and play games around - plenty of these in the cupboard, as well as lots of books and dvds on bookcase. Very comfortable, warm and cosy house. The stairs are though very steep up to the top floor. Great room up there, perfect for teenagers, but not suitable for young children. Big thumbs up all round.
