The house has retained many of its original features including panelled doors parquet wood flooring sash windows and cornicing plus the addition of a woodburner all to capture the charm and character. With a large well tended garden and small babbling brook that runs alongside with fantastic views over the local woodlands and mountains from the top this really is a fantastic position for a holiday let. Llanwddyn is a small village within the Lake Vyrnwy Estate a National Nature Reserve. The area is popular with visitors who can enjoy bird watching walking cycling and riding around Lake Vyrnwy and through the Cambrian Mountains and Berwyn Range. There is a post office cafe and several gift shops which sell local crafts and produce. An award-winning hotel is situated nearby and has a restaurant and spa facilities and offers pheasant shooting and trout fishing in season. The area is a great base from which to explore mid and North Wales Shropshire and Cheshire within easy driving distance are Bala Lake Dolgellau Oswestry and Welshpool there are 4 National trust properties nearby Powys Castle Chirk Castle Erddig and Attingham Park. The west Wales coastline is less than an hours drive similarly are Chester and Bangor on Dee racecourses. Llangollen Betws-y-Coed and Snowdonia are around an hour and well worth the journey. Outdoor pursuits are available locally with a wide range of activities on offer from gorge walking white water rafting canoeing and sailing. Comfort and Equipment

    Value for money

Mouldy bathroom, poorly equipped kitchen, central heating controlled remotely by owners so v unresponsive to cold weather, broken fixtures and fittings (lamps, curtains), extremely overpriced with unhelpful owners. Arrived to find overflowing, unemptied recycling in the kitchen with instructions about how we should dispose of it! No basics in the kitchen - salt, pepper etc, showers didn't work, locked doors throughout and FILTHY tablecloths and bathrooms. Awful, would not go again.

We had a lovely 4days and the Oaks is very nice , It was easy to find and quite large enough for 8 adults and one child. The weather was cool but dry so we were able to get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery, walking and cycling in the area. The only minor problem was there was not a knife sharpener and most of the knifes were very blunt and we could have done with more crockery when using the dish washer but these are such minor faults and we would certaily go again.

The showers didn't work properly and were clogged up. One had a door that kept opening. There were no t-towels although we weren't told this in the details and one of the ovens didn't work which made cooking for a leave party awkward. If these things were fixed we would come again.

Lovely house but a bit tired in places. Generally clean and tidy but the kitchen and oven could do with a deep clean. The oven wasn’t fully functional which made catering for 9 people tricky. 1 bathroom had no hot water but the others were fine. Our biggest gripe was that there were no bin or food bags to sort waste/recycling and no hand soap in bathrooms. If it was made clear these would not be there I would have packed some! On the positive side it was excellent value for money and the location is beautiful, lots of lovely walking and wildlife to spot. The house was warm and had plenty of space, we loved sitting around the log burner playing board games. If it has a clean up I’d happily pay more to stay there!!

A lovely family holiday. Kids are still talking about it! Cottage was spacious with lots of lovely bedrooms. Only area that could perhaps be improved are the baths/showers water pressure, as not all of them worked and is something that has been commented on before by previous visitors. Also, the oven was very dirty with a big tray of fat left in it, so we only used the hobs. Some could say that the furniture was very old and tired, but it’s not something that bothered us too much. Location was great, as it was central to lots of parts of Wales and it’s activities within 1 1/2hr. Beautiful lake and walks right outside the door. Would return - thank you!

Perfect for a family get-together with or without kids. Overgrown large hillside back garden and exciting play park fantastic for the kids: sculpture park, lake and and bird hides wonderful for the adults. Owner fixes any problems promptly. Beds comfy. Superb. Thanks, Paul and Sarah.
