We had a wonderful time staying at The Old Bakery. It was spotlessly clean, very well equipped and everything is top quality, nothing has been done on the cheap and the beds are really comfortable – my son wanted to take his home with him along with the games room. That kept my two grown up chaps entertained every evening. The cottage is in a beautiful, rural setting and I loved the very vocal cockerel strutting his stuff, you really knew you were in the country. The owners are on site, very nice and helpful but never intrusive in any way. I can’t recommend this cottage highly enough. One last thing, if you are looking for somewhere to eat we had two excellent meals in a small Turkish restaurant just as you enter Diss, it’s called Turkuaz.

The cottage is set in the most peaceful of tiny villages so from the moment we arrived, we chilled out. As we came up the drive, we spotted the duck pond and just knew we were in for a great time. The word “cottage” really doesn’t do the place justice as it was large and spacious with more than enough room for all four of us. Everything in the cottage is well appointed and of a very high standard. We did most of our own cooking and everything was to hand. There was even a separate laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer and an outside line. A good selection of books and DVDs were on hand, too, although we hardly needed them as we spent many evenings in the fabulous Games Room. It was brilliant fun! A pool table, darts, Air Hockey and table football made for terrific entertainment at no cost! Colin and Debby are the most perfect hosts - on hand if needed but more than happy to let you get on with your holiday. They recommended a couple of places to go and see and to eat. Local knowledge is essential in a different setting and much appreciated. We all had the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday in what can only be described as the most idyllic setting. Thank you, Colin and Debby and thank you, English Country Cottages. A return visit is a must!

Lovely cottage. Quiet peaceful location. Comfortable beds. Friendly hosts around daily. Took a while to warm cottage through. Wood burner helped. Games room tired and would benefit from a clean. Nice welcome gift and cottage beautifully presented with all you need for a first class stay.

We had a great time at The Old Bakery! The minor details that the owners thought about such as folding a towel for each of our group for the use of the hot tub, stoking the fire, making sure the house was warm on our arrival and the complimentary bottle of prosecco didn’t go unnoticed! A fantastic place to relax for a girly weekend away! Would highly recommend!

We had a lovely family break over Christmas at the old bakery. Our grandson fell in love with the hot tub. We would recommend the cottage to anyone who wants to relax and get away from it all. There was everything there that you could ever need.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Bakery. The cottage itself is lovely and is in a great relaxing setting - sitting by the pond watching the chickens and ducks was heavenly. The Prosecco and chocolates were a welcome touch but after a long journey I would have appreciated a pint of milk in the fridge so we could have a quick cuppa (every other cottage I’ve stayed at gives you this). On another note the website did say the property would be decorated for Christmas - we stayed the week before so I had assumed (perhaps wrongly) that the cottage would be decorated but it wasn’t - I know other people who have gone away in early December and their cottage has been decorated. I was a little disappointed but it didn’t ruin our stay. These are minor objections however and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Old Bakery to anyone - we’re looking forward to coming back in the summer so we can use the pool!

Everything was perfect! The property was immaculate and the facilities were great; there was something for everyone. We found the cottage itself quite hard to find, so had to send the other guests more specific directions. The cottage is full of character and is really cosy, perfect for a winter break.

We had a fabulous stay at the old bakery. The cottage itself is so quaint with uneven floors, low ceilings and beams. We loved lighting the log burner , using the hot tub and the games room was a real bonus especially as the weather wasn’t great while we were there. Everything was very clean and the cottage was surprisingly warm even with all the radiators turned off! We would love to come back in the summer to use the pool and walk around the area a bit more.

Absolutely gorgeous cottage and just the break away we all needed. The cottage and it’s surrounding area are truly stunning, the pictures don’t do it justice. The added bonus of the games room and hot tub just really topped off an already perfect holiday.

Thank you both so much for letting us use your beautiful cottage. If only history could talk. Everything exceeded my expectations and my other friends who hadn’t been before. Well equipped, the beds, bedding and towels were amazing. Felt so luxurious. I wish you and your beautiful wife, whom I saw for a brief moment when I was in the pool (lol)... endless happiness and I will definitely be back again Kind regards Michelle

We had a lovely time at The Old Bakery, the WOW factor as you walk into the garden and then the property is stunning. The decor is gorgeous, the shower fantastic and the beds super comfy. Our 2 boys loved the swimming pool and the games room, and that was a real plus point as the weather defeated us on our recent week here. Banham Zoo is a must, and is only a 20 minute drive. Colin and Debbie are great hosts, and we would definitely stay here again. the one thing I would say is that anyone who is less mobile may find the 1st floor a little tricky to navigate due to the uneven landing floor and low door frames, but this is a 300+ yr old property so to be expected I think. Overall, this is one of the nicest properties we have stayed in.
