A lot of thought design and careful consideration has been made by the current owners to make this detached property a really special place to stay. From the windows and courtyards you can see the stunning church which has been described as a ’cathedral in miniature’ and is one of five churches in Melbourne. The Domesday Book records a church and priest here in 1086. The present church was built about 1120.\nFeaturing unique touches throughout you can enjoy a living room with the cosy wood burner the sun room and the snug. Two fabulously designed bedrooms with exposed beams are to be found on the first floor along with a stunning roll-top bath to soak away the hours. Outside you will find two courtyards one directly from the kitchen and the other from the sun room but which one to choose?\nMelbourne is a quaint village with bespoke artisan shops delis coffee shops restaurants and pubs to enjoy. It is about 8 miles south of Derby and 2 miles from the River Trent. If you can drag yourself away from the stunning coach house there is neighbouring Melbourne Hall which stands in an idyllic setting at the east end of the village overlooking the 20 acre mill pool. Passers-by get little more than a fleeting glimpse because its principal aspects are south and east towards the parkland and gardens while the courtyards and outbuildings separate it from the village. There is also Calke Abbey a beautiful historic house set within 600 acres of nature reserve and Staunton Harold reservoir with its yacht club and children’s play area. Donnington race track is not to be missed as it is home to the Grand Prix collection in the museum and it also hosts many major motor cycling and racing events. Situated on the edge of the National Forest you have easy access to a whole host of beautiful countryside with an array of walking bird watching and cycling opportunities. A little further afield is the Peak District National Park where you will find the renowned Chatsworth House as well as the historic towns of Bakewell Matlock and Matlock Bath so you surely won’t be stuck for things to do. After a day exploring the surrounding area you will be pleased to venture back to beautiful Melbourne and The Old Coach House to relax and pop your feet up Shop pub and restaurant 500 yards. \n " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/105/840/10598773.jpg UKC3628

Very well presented cottage. Well placed to visit local sites without the car. Excellent welcome basket of "goodies" on arrival.

An outstanding short break in a lovely part of the country that we hadn’t visited before. The cottage was a perfect base from which to explore. Great walks, eating, drinking and relaxing.
