Lovely welcome- flowers and wine- thank you! Also nice to get a phone call from the owner to welcome us. Apartment was really well equipped with a nice new bathroom and kitchen. The bed was amazingly comfortable- but very high- great for us (and my bad back!) Thoughtful touches for the dog as well. Great amount of info to plan walks etc. Handy to have parking disc available.

Fabulous holiday apartment in a great location. Good base for exploring the Lakes. Apartment was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Lovely to have a bottle of wine and milk on arrival as well as simple things such a dishwater tablets, bin liners, toilet rolls and soap which isn’t always supplied in holiday rentals. Thank you, will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Small, impractical bath tub; storage heaters not great (so wouldn't rent in the winter) and some more comfortable seating in the lounge for ageing legs would be welcome. Have stayed at Wood Close before and the location is hard to beat. Good value.

TOCH is small, but quite adequate for two adults. Well-equipped and compact, it offers access to a variety of walking possibilities, some of the routes being, in our opinion, amongst the prettiest in Britain. The walk down into Grasmere is easy, short and downhill mostly but the return up to TOCH can be a bit of a bind after a long day out on foot. With a combined age of 157, my wife and I managed it no problem. In the gardens about the main house we saw red squirrels several times, deer once and many kinds of birds. It is a quiet place, no traffic noise and surprisingly little evidence of other occupants. Parking is no problem but the path up to the front door can be a fag when unloading or loading a car. All in all, a lovely place for a walking holiday for two people.

I enjoyed my week in The Old Coach House and was particularly pleased with the modernised bathroom and kitchen. The views from Wood Close are wonderful. For a keen walker like myself, the walk up and down the hill to Wood Close is no problem- but it was too much for my husband, who has some difficulties with balance and coordination. Grasmere is very well-served by buses,so it is possible to manage without a car most of the week,as I did; however, Grasmere has been virtually taken over by tourism over the 50 or so years since I first came here, and the Co-op is the only "ordinary" shop left in the village. I found this rather sad. I have to admit that I found the range of electrical appliances, heaters, sockets, and switches, somewhat confusing , and had to use the "House Folder" every day to remind myself how each thing worked and which switched on where. The instructions are very clear.

The property is superb and in a cracking location. It was immaculately presented with and well appointed. A joy to stay at and set amongst breath-taking scenery. I can't fault it in any way.

Our 6th visit to the Old Coach House which is a pleasant walk from Grasmere and has a gate from the large garden directly onto the woods and fells beyond. The new owners can be very proud of the improvements they have made. From the basket of dog essentials in the porch to the beautifully refitted bathroom and kitchen. We watched deer in the garden from the lounge and red squirrels from the bedroom and kitchen. They have thought of everything and this property is now a delightful and restful home from home set in a beautiful part of the Lake District. Thank you for a sharing this stunning property (and the welcoming bottle of wine). I’m sure we will be returning for many more breaks.

The Old Coach House was very cosy and well equipped. We had a couple of extremely wet days, but it didn't bother us as we knew we would be returning to a warm and cosy apartment. The surroundings were idyllic and very peaceful and the village of Grasmere was a pleasant walk and had all that we needed to enjoy a very relaxing holiday. As ever the Lakeland scenery is breath taking even when it's raining! We certainly wouldn't hesitate to return and would recommend The Old Coach House to friends and family.

We had a lovely stay at the Old Coach House, it was a lot bigger than I expected having read some other reviews. It is a great base for walking with a lovely walk to Alcock tarn out of the garden and the walk to Grasmere centre only takes about 15 minutes, the walk back up the hill can be quite tough after a long day hiking however! I was surprised by how many other apartments there are in the building/s and you can hear the people below but it's quiet at night when it matters. Overall we had a great stay here
