The Old Cow Shed was very comfortable and warm. The weather was very wet and cold while we were there and it was good to come back to a warm haven. Our only comment would be that if you stayed for longer than a week a washing machine and drying facilities would be useful. It is a private cottage and the owners are there if you need them but don’t interfere at all. Our dogs loved the lovely local walks.

If you're looking for a modern, sparkling, state of the art, brand new cottage or conversion then this isn't for you; however, if a tastefully renovated farm building in a semi- rural setting with all the facilities you would expect, excellent under floor heating and a super- king bed appeals to you, then this is just the ticket! Bring the dog, who is most welcome, and everyone is happy! We had a lovely stay in April, thank you Louise and Geir, we wish we had been able to stay longer.

The cottage was lovely, there were some bottles of cider to welcome us along with some provisions such as milk and sugar etc. The owners were fantastic and very welcoming. They were on hand to give information on the area but did not intrude on our privacy. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone .

Loved it! Would definitely stay again. So peaceful. Bigger than the photos showed. You could tell that owners had thought about everything in there too. Friendly and welcoming owners. Can’t wait to book in again. Thank you!

This could be a really lovely cottage but it needs some work. It’s dated and dusty. The bathroom is very dated and not very appealing at all. It was also a little smelly and took me time to adjust because it made me a little sick. The living area is comfortable enough but basic. The kitchen is nice enough but is in need of an update with pots, pans, plates and so on. The rug was torn, the old sofa wasn’t usable at all, but there was a nice new one as well. The decor is all a bit unloved. It was very dusty with some huge cobwebs that are months rather than days old. The bedroom was dark and a bit oppressive. There was an old electric iron that didn’t do anything and the ironing board wouldn’t stand up. The owners kindly let me borrow theirs but again these are really basic ameinities. It’s very hard to find and is literally just on someone’s drive in a village not ideal for walking especially after dark (there are no footpaths). Overall I was disappointed but I see the potential for the cottage. It’s just old and needs updating. It felt like an elderly relative once lived there (which wasn’t the best or nicest feeling). However, the hosts are kind and helpful and we made the most of it but were ultimately disapointed. The local area wasn’t to friendly to us, the pub within walking distance did decent enough (but not outstanding) food and was very unwelcoming on the first visit. We did go back despite this (there wasn’t much else to choose from) and had a slightly better time on the second visit. It kept short hours and closed quite irratically, even during the holiday period. The second visit had a younger team working the tables and was a much nicer and more welcoming experience (we were stared at less and there wasn’t a hush as we walked through that time!). The local taxi company (apparently two miles away) wanted £50 over Christmas for a five minute journey, when we politely declined the booking they refused to help with a booking on a non holiday day but still quoted £25 for a five minute journey. Therefore overall this wasn’t a good experience and although it got close to romantic it didn’t quite succeed. It needs a deep clean, paint, updated amenities, and some of the local businesses need to be far more welcoming to tourists who bring mone to the area and to hosts such as these. The best thing was the hosts, the worst thing was the dated cottage, and the medium worst was the local experience (although it was better further down the road at the Four Horse Shoes). I wish I could be more positive but I just can’t. This should have been better.

We stayed at this cottage during the Christmas week and found our hosts very hopitable being available for help or info if needed, but not interfering in any way. The place was clean and tidy with all of the facilities that we could want, the locality was also ideal for walking our two dogs who also enjoyed thier stay as much as we did. The local shop and Pub were great and very friendly (we have praised the Pub on Trip advisor). The only possible improvement to this place would be a private area as a form of garden, but I could not really see how they could achieve this, also I am 6.3 in tall and would have wished for a King Size bed. other than that, 100% satisfaction and very recomended.

A very welcoming hideaway which oozes character yet provides excellent home comforts. The owners were extremely friendly and accommodating, as were the locals who we met at the exceptional village pub. The sunday roast and local ale were a treat. All in all a must return vacation.
