Just back from the Old Mill having stayed there for a week to celebrate my 50th. I love the area and so to find this gem was fantastic. We had some great days out at Alnmouth and Holy Island and plenty of visits to the beach at Longhoughton and meals out at Craster (Jolly Fisher) and Rennington (Horseshoes Inn), however just being at the Old Mill was fantastic. Lovely gardens and a big open grassed area that was used for kicking the footy about or playing catch. Plenty of outdoor seating to sit and have a bite to eat or a couple of drinks and loads of indoor space for all the guests and occasional visitor. All of the bedrooms are modern, comfortable and en-suite. Everyone who stayed were well impressed by the house and grounds. A week that will live long in the memory for everyone involved and certainly made my half century very special. The reviews here are testament to a fantastic place and area.

There were 10 of us in the Old Mill with 2 friends next door in a 1 bedroom cottage - so an invasion of 12 people from Chesterfield The Old Mill was great - no end of space for people to go into with the large lounge and TV but people were happy to sit in the kitchen space with all its seats and watch the men cook scrumptious meals The dining area easily took the 12 of us with an enormous amount of cutlery/plates/glasses etc and a very efficient dishwasher afterwards as well as gallons of hot water for large saucepans to hand wash The house was immaculate and we were lucky to get the Master Bedroom with the balcony/table/chairs which of course gave us a glass of wine in the sun. The patio area was well laid out with lots of tables and chairs so your could always find the sun - YES it did shine on occasions! Plus we used some of the growing herbs in our food - Rosemary and Chives in particular The house was ideally situated near to Craster and Alnwick with other good places such as Bamburgh Castle close by as well. Most impressed with the organic soap/shampoo/hand cream for us to use in the bathrooms as well as a welcome gift of Prosecco / Thorntons Chocs / Flowers and a fantastic array of drink sachets and mini packs of biscuits to boost our tea/coffee. However the Star of the Show was the Table Football in the Entrance Hall which resulted in some great games and YES we're all still friends This was the ideal place to celebrate a retirement, a 27th Wedding Anniversary and the 2 VIPs who celebrated their Ruby Wedding Anniversary - the large cream container has more corks in it!
