This period home is suitable for families and dog-lovers and offers comfortable accommodation with features such as beams tiled floors and feature fire surrounds. The large living room on the first floor enjoys an open fire set within an inglenook and wooden flooring with rugs. Leading from the farmhouse-style kitchen is a large utility room which is ideal for drying as a boot store or for dogs to sleep in and has a stable door leading to the garden. On two levels the lawned garden is accessed by steep steps or a sloping path which surrounds the garden for access and has a table and bench seating for dining al fresco. This is a great place for spotting various wildlife such as red squirrels and many birds such as buzzards. The Isle of Wight has a wealth of footpaths and bridleways. Discover an amazing variety of scenery and many award-winning beaches many of them with golden sands as well as coves and bays to explore.     On a positive note the location of the Old stable is very good and provides easy access to the whole island. It is close to Newport where the big supermarkets are. The kitchen has lots of plates, bowls and equipment. The walk from the door is lovely. There are lots and toys and games for the children and the kids room is sweet. The laundry/boot room is handy. The bees are great. Personally I would not recommend the property for lots of reasons. The photos advertising it are old, the Old stable is a lot more worn than it appears. The kitchen is cramped as the aga is not working a gas cooker has been put on the end of a counter making the kitchen further cramped. It is also in a dangerous position when you have small, boiling pan height children trying to get past. The downstairs is dark and cold with one of the bedrooms downstairs. My 11 year old chose to sleep in with his little brothers as it's a very depressing room. The upstairs is brighter but still tired and in need of some care and attention. The children were covered in either rug hairs or dog hairs everytime they lay on the rug. The sofas are uncomfy, lumpy and old. There is lots of damage(cup stains, marks on things) meaning it not only adds to the sad feel but means making sure we got our deposit back (which we did) seemed harder as we weren't sure of all the previous damage. Having paid a £50 non refundable cleaning charge I would have hoped everywhere would be spotless but it needs a deep clean everywhere. We could see the house was once loved but it either needs a big renovation or a lower price. Overall it has a slightly gloomy and depressing feeling and we were glad to go home.
