Beccles stands on the Norfolk and Suffolk border in the Broads National Park, where the River Waveney runs through. The town boasts independent boutiques and chain shops, and an excellent collection of eateries, ranging from fine dining to many cafés serving homemade cakes and savouries. The weekly market is excellent for all things local should you wish to enjoy a night of cooking. The Broads National Park is best explored on the water ways, daily hire is available for kayaks, canoes and day boat motor launches for a more leisurely pace of life. Or, enjoy a guided boat tour, where you can really soak up the incredible national park.
On the doorstep is the Lido open air heated swimming pool, popular with local swimmers and located alongside the River Waveney. You are perfectly placed to explore the wealth of delights both Norfolk and Suffolk offer. Just 14 miles away is the seaside town of Southwold with its colourful beach huts, range of independent shops, cafés and restaurants, sandy beach, quirky pier, busy harbour and working lighthouse. These, together with the fact that it is also home to the famous Adnams Brewery, add to its timeless appeal. The closest beach is at Pakefield (8.5 miles), and the city of Norwich, a bustling cathedral city with culture, heritage and entertainment is a 30-minute drive away. Golf course within 1½ miles and fishing within ½ mile. Shops, pubs and restaurants 530 yards.
