The Ranch was a great property for our two families. Good location for walks and the local town Dunoon.

Wow, what a great place to go. Little hard to find as the house number wasn't very visible in the rain, but once we found it it was great. Lovely scenery around the area. Rooms were spacious and clean, well equipped kitchen, DVDs and CDs galore. The pictures on the wall were an interesting talking point as well! The Jacuzzi was a great bonus and we also paddled in the stream at the bottom of the garden. Extra fridge and freezer outside, and it was great to have the washing machine and tumble dryer with two young children. Wifi was great, but dipped in some parts on the house (not a major issue). Only small thing was there was no razor point in the bathroom so we were unable to charge our toothbrushes - just useful info rather than a bad point.

The Ranch is set in woodland, we saw deer, squirrels and woodpeckers driving to and from the house. On arrival I asked the very nice next door neighbour where to park as the parking space is not designated. We did not have any problems parking our two small cars at all. There's was always space. The house was spotlessly clean. It's spacious with a well equipped kitchen area. Due to my children all having serious food allergies, we cooked every day. A family sized fridge/freezer is needed, although there is another fridge and freezer outside. One dark night I accidentally left the freezer door open, defrosting everything. Clearly my own fault. The house is very well appointed. All the bedrooms are nicely furnished. Very comfortable beds and good quality linen. The vintage wardrobe and dressing table is lovely. Very good supply of towels and also toilet rolls. We found a supply of teabags and sugar in the kitchen, am assuming this was the welcome pack. There's a very good stereo in the dining room, complete with lots of cd's. A few board games would have been nice, a trip to Dunoon sorted that out. We bought 10 games for £5 from a charity shop! The house is spacious, it was hard to leave in the morning and lovely to return to each evening. Everyone including the dog enjoyed staying at the Ranch. We hope to rebook soon.

The house was very dirty. Dog hairs everywhere. The kitchen was covered in oil. No cleaning materials provided! House is very dated and needs a lot of repairs carried out. Could be an amazing house if just given a bit of care and money spent on updating redecorating. I would recommend a deep clean also we had to suffer with lots of dog hair and dogs dinner marks on the walls. Garden was stinking of dog poo. We also took offence at being TOLD to wash towels used for hot tub. Would not recommend this house.

Spent an amazing week at the Ranch. The accommodation offers everything you can possibly need during your stay. The location is perfect, 10min from Dunoon should you need any groceries, but yet still feels remote. We enjoyed trips to Inverary, Oban, Tighnabruich and Portavadie and although the one track road can be challenging in places, the scenery can take your breath away, especially looking down the Kyles of Bute. The hot tub is a bonus when you want to relax and although there is a log burner in the lounge the underfloor heating keeps you cosy without needing to put it on. The furniture and the beds are very comfortable and there is always a supply of hot water. For those, who like us, take their dogs on holiday it is doggie heaven. The garden is large and there is the added bonus of the river. Also as you walk into the cul-de-sac you will see tracks to your left, this takes you to a sandy, pebbly area next to the water which my two absolutely loved. I had high hopes when I booked this holiday and I wasnt disappointed !!!

Perfect if you want a remote destination, but this means almost every other tourist attraction is at least an hour's drive away, albeit a very scenic drive! There is a small well-stocked shop 5 minutes' drive away, and a Co-op and Morrison's in Dunoon, about 15 minutes' drive away. The house has everything you need in the kitchen, plus an extra fridge and freezer outside near the hot tub for drinks. Massive living room, 4 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Local scenery is beautiful, and there were plenty of places to walk our 2 dogs. The landlord was also very helpful, and answered any queries we had by phone call or WhatsApp very promptly. Would happily recommend to anyone thinking of visiting this region.

Size of house for a family is great but unfortunately there were a number of issues that were highlighted to the owner but were not resolved so by the third day I have up as it was spoiling my holiday. Front porch door does not lock (coat and shoe storage is in porch) so had to store them in dining room as no other pegs or storage. Fridge was not keeping cool, thermometer supplied but no follow up for temperatures and +++ food spoiled and out of pocket! Thermometer showed temperature was above safe level. Kitchen stool had screw sticking through seat which stuck into my son. House needs painted as lots of marks on walls and water damage to lounge ceiling. Very worn and tired (not shabby chic) kitchen/dining room floor. No lead to work the PS3. Radiator in shower room very rusty and whole room could do with update. Downstairs bedroom door doesn’t close. No light in kitchen above sink although hole drilled in ceiling. No idea how to use heating controls until I asked owner after 2 days using the wrong controls downstairs! Wasp nest in laundry (obviously this is nature and cannot be helped). Damage to hot tub and it did not appear clean on arrival. No clear parking area other than what appeared to be the next door neighbours gravel drive. Advertised as a detached house but it is a semi. I’m sorry if this sounds so negative and it wouldn’t have been if the response from the housekeeper had been different but after contacting the owner he asked the housekeeper to contact who basically said I had too high expectations and the house is fine. I tried to explain that I booked it due to the really positive reviews and therefore was expecting a little luxury. Oh and she also said that the fridge was fine as there was an old one in the garden that I could use. This was great when it poured with rain to trudge over the grass for milk for a cuppa! The house has real potential and has probably been very good previously but just needs some attention to bring back to that standard. Some nice quirky touches and the underfloor heating was great therefore doesn’t need 5 log buckets in the living room! We have stayed in a number of lodges which sadly have all been better maintained. Good time relaxing and generally being together as a family which was great. Fab seeing the squirrel in the garden and good selection of CDs in dining room to listen to when playing board games. Beds were really comfy.

Great house for large groups! Garden not contained but our older kids love going down by the river and the Tarzan swing! Hot tub was a nice bonus after a lot of hill walking! Great area for scenic walks. House was well equipped for large group, Only tiny moan would be the downstairs shower wasn’t great! But for the money I would highly recommend for a chilled out break in a beautiful area!

An awesome house just outside of Dunoon in Glen Massen. The house is equipped to the highest standards. The garden is amazing and backs on to the river. Red Squirrels were a common sighting. The hot tub in the garden is very well maintained and was thoroughly enjoyed after days walking in the hills around Glen Massen. Highly recommended
