NB 8 steps in garden. \n This lovely detached holiday home situated in the grounds of a fruit and arable farm has been very comfortably furnished to provide super family accommodation. Conveniently all on the ground floor the spacious and high ceilinged rooms are a nod to the property’s history and its sunny aspect surrounded by a large enclosed garden make it a very good choice for all ages. The building dates back to 1879 when it was the school for the local farming community and each farm would have had 5 to 6 families working on the farm. In 1900 the property was extended and the school master accommodation was added to the back of the school.\nJust 1½ miles from the pleasant market town of Coupar Angus it is in the heart of the fertile and scenic countryside of rural Strathmore and makes a marvellous touring base being just 14 miles from the fair city of Perth and 12 miles from Dundee. To the north lie the Grampian Mountains while to the west are the Sidlaw Hills. There are many and varied activities available in the area good golf is in abundance as is excellent walking and river fishing. Or visit Glamis Castle home of the late Queen Mother with its fascinating history and Scone Palace home to the Stone of Destiny and also the base for Perth Racecourse. Nearby Kirriemuir is a pleasant town and famous for being the birthplace of JM Barrie author of Peter Pan. Slightly further afield are the bustling towns of Pitlochry and Aberfeldy.     Absolutely fantastic holiday! Cottage was beautifully and had everything needed for self catering. Definitely one I'd recommend and use again!!

    This is a really spacious property and one of the best equipt holiday lets we have used. Although it was only April when we visited, we were able to use the sheltered patio area to sit out. It is a good central location with Dundee, Dunkeld etc all easily accessible. The owners were really helpful and we would definately consider a return visit.

    The school house is a delightful old stone built house providing a very comfortable, warm and very well equipped cottage. There is a pleasant garden, although the fences were not totally dog proof. The school house is situated on a very busy farm in an intensively farmed area of Perthshire so the immediate aspect tends to be more industrial than rolling farmland. Coupar Angus is appropriate for an industrial farming area with few tourist orintated facilities.

    This was not the property that we originally booked. Sadly, that one suffered a major fire when we were 10 minutes from arrival. As the booking was Friday to Friday, it took over 3 hours to locate other accommadation locally at a busy time of the year-we needed 3 beds and we had 2 dogs with us. We found a hotel 30 miles away which offered the one room with 3 beds, and would accept 2 dogs. Not a great start to our holiday, especially as 2 of us had driven over 400 miles. Scottish Cottages offered The Schoolhouse the next day on a Saturday to Saturday booking, so we all drove 30 miles back there, as nowhere else suitable could be found. Fortunately , it was fine. We enjoyed the next 6 days, and the weather was good. Could have been much worse, as we may have been in the original cottage when it caught fire.
