The cottage itself was clean and comfortable but there were problems. There wasn't any wi-fi despite it being listed. The TV is only basic freeview which most of the time had very poor reception. The dvd player was broken and we ended up buying one because we'd already bought some dvd's! There were only 3 candle bulbs to light the lounge making it impossible to read/knit etc (hence the dvd player!). All of these problems could be easily addressed by either providing what is actually listed or by removing it from the cottage description. The lack of a decent television, dvd player, wi-fi and lighting were a problem for us but I appreciate that other people might be fine with this. If that's the case then you will certainly feel comfortable in this cosy cottage.

None of this spoilt our holiday but this is why I wouldn’t recommend it. The cottage could do with some TLC and basic maintenance. We found the following problems. Only 2 of 6 light bulbs working in the living area. Bathroom shelf hanging off the wall. Bedside cabinet door came off in my hand. Curtain rail in main bedroom coming off the wall. Window in second bedroom didn’t close handle fell off in my hand. Kettle didn’t turn off once boiled putting steam/water onto a bank of three sockets I moved the microwave to avoid this. When we used the washing machine the electric tripped out. Kitchen tap difficult to turn off and the whole thing moved as you turned it. Fridge freezer has some issues with temperature the fridge section froze some items and the freezer section didn’t freeze properly.

Unfortunately a lot of the crockery and cutlery needed rewashing (which is obviously down to previous holiday makers etc) but without a dishwasher it isn't a 5 minute job.

The cottage itself is beautiful. We had a lovely holiday overall but the space entirely surrounding the cottage is a working yard so can get quite busy. Sadly the views are hidden behind surrounding buildings but the people who live there were happy to take us for a walk to show us around their land. The people working on the farm/in the yard were all very friendly as were the animals. My girls made great friends in particular with the horses and dogs-and I even met a dog who shares my name! There was a leak downstairs every time the shower is turned on which could do with some attention and I would suggest investing in a DVD player for when the signal goes in the TV but otherwise I wouldn’t change anything. The local shops/pub are all lovely and would highly recommend popping in for a meal if you decide to visit.

Nice peaceful location. The owners brother was a super friendly and helpful man. We could have made use of the advertised dvd player which was absent. Also the wall lights in the lounge were inadequate and you couldn't read by them. Further floor standing lighting would work well. A 3/4 bed would have been more suitable in the second bedroom along with a bedside lamp. We enjoyed our short break all the same and would return.

Well equipped. We had a lovely Easter weekend here. Quiet location away from noise. All the attractions are quite closed and not so many people.
