Had a great time. The sitting out area with BBQ is really very good, we spent most of our time outside. The supermarkets in Berwick are easily accessed for shopping, though I would recommend the butchers in Coldstream. The house information book recommends Cheswick beach with a small car park at end of road then a short walk through the dunes to the beach. this is not such a short walk as a long uneven hike, very difficult underfoot and with a very high dune before reaching the beach. You can't manage any of this "short walk" with a pram or any other mobility equipment, nice sands but no facilities! However we did enjoy our holiday, the house was great, though could use some waste bins in beds and sitting rooms and perhaps a nest of tables in the sitting room, somewhere to put your drinks.

We were made very welcome. The cottage was lovely and clean and furnished well. There was nothing that we were short of and it was well thought out for children for example with safety gates, high chair and even own cutlery for children. Rooms all a decent size and a lovely garden at the back. The views were lovely to wake up to every morning and a joy to see some sheep.

Although I've not give a 10 for local amenities - this isn't to say it wasn't a suitable location. It was perfect for visiting and the surrounding areas - a perfect location. The lower score was just to note there were no local amenities within the area and had to drive everywhere if you wanted something - but this suited us entirely! A great property, facilities, location and perfect for so many beautiful areas for exploring - lots of hidden gems!

Fantastic accommodation, extremely well equipped, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend to anyone. Berwick is only a short drive away for all your shopping needs and the accommodation is very well placed to visit all of the beautiful beaches, castles and surrounding countryside. Would definitely return to The Steading if holidaying in this area again.

East Allerdean provided the base for a fantastic holiday at the Northumbrian Coast. The cottage was spacious, spotless and very well equipped. The kitchen had everything you need for a self-catering holiday. Lots of seating space outside and for the cooler evenings there is lovely sitting room. Overlooking the countryside you can see the nearest beach from the cottage. We spent some days inside and there was no noise from traffic at all. We received clear instructions about how to get there, location of the keys and how things work in the cottage from the owners about a week before our holiday started. Communication with the owners was excellent at all times. We would recommend East Allerdean to friends and family without hesitation and would return for a future holiday.

Beautifully decorated and very homely with everything you need. Clean and comfortable and the outside space was lovely too. Peaceful area with stunning views too. The only negative was the smell of the oil boiler which was situated in the kitchen. Would most definitely stay here again.

Beautiful cottage which was exceptionally clean. Really well decorated and lovely furniture. Outside area lovely but unfortunately it wasn’t warm enough when we were there to utilise it. Could do with some more cooking dishes etc but a minor point. Owners very helpful when we had a query about the heating.

The cottage and location were excellent. All helped by the winter sunshine. We had everything we needed to have a comfortable family holiday. February is probably the best time to visit bamburgh beach. Miles of empty, clean powder sand. Dunstanburgh castle is also worth a visit. A walk around Berwick's Elizabethan walls is also worthwhile. We all had a lovely time.

The cottage was beautiful, and extremely well equipped. The heating gave us a few problems initially, but the owners talked us through the controls and everything was fine after that. If you're looking for rest and relaxation, it's the ideal place to go. 10 minutes from Berwick and Tweedmouth, 20 minutes from Eyemouth. Bamburgh and Holy Island very close by.
