Fantastic place. Exactly what we wanted. Beds not very comfortable

Overall excellent location for people that love the country, relaxing holiday with great views. Games room downstairs for extra entertainment. Short drive to Thornhill village, that has everything you really need (Chinese lovely). The only downfalls to our holiday is the mattress on the bed was very uncomfortable, sofas low down, too soft struggle to get up. The drive with all the mud every time you went in the house and car when you went out. However we enjoyed it overall !!!! Thank you.

Upon opening the door, I was enchanted to find a Christmas tree all decorated and ready! The place made you feel special upon entrance, like a princess entering a castle, with its character furniture pieces and tasteful almost open-plan architecture of this converted mill. The living room had comfortable couches and the TV was of adequate size, though channel selection was limited. The view was spectacular and though weather did not oblige with much wind and rain and cloudy skies, I greatly desired to return to that majestic mountain in more temperate climate. The kitchen was well-equipped, roomy and charming. The en suite master bedroom had all the space a king could desire but I found the bed a bit hard, and was pleased to find another room with a much softer and more comfortable bed. The shower worked well. The toilet not so well. Heating was great as you could control it to a T. The game-room downstairs provided great diversion, for knocking back a few rounds of pool. My pet loved the open space and lots of empty floor space to chase ping pong balls around on, especially as it was so cold outside and she didn't relish winter outdoor play on a lead, what with not really being able to run to stay warm, albeit a nice-sized, almost completely fenced-in yard. The terrain around looked quite wild so I was afraid to take a chance to let her loose. If you fancy remoteness, this is the place. The very attractive town is nearby, a couple miles, and offers an enticing array of shops and cafes and art galleries, and most especially the very nearby Drumlanrig castle with its world famous art collection including a Rembrandt and a Gainsborough, gorgeous gardens, historical tours and even weekly outdoor yoga on the castle lawn!

Fantastic place and the views are brilliant. First morning 6 red kites souring above the cottage. I would decently stay again. Thank you for renting the cottage out. Regards Paul

The cottage was in a beautiful quiet rural spot...I realised it was an old mill but there was a such a strong smell of damp downstairs in the games room. The local spar was in Thornhill itself which is about 4 miles away. Should you need to do a bigger though that was 14 miles away in Dumfries so a lot of traveling for amenities. We had to do a lot of traveling each day to find things to do and as we had a mostly rainy week this wars hard to find. We found a small town called Moffat that we would recommend as lots of small shops for gifts etc.

Enjoyed the games room and gardens. Didn’t sleep very well as mattress was softer than used too. The Mill could benefit from some minor improvements and cleaning. I did meet the owners when we arrived and Gill was very helpful and answered all my questions on the local area and recommended places to visit too which was very much appreciated.
