    Had a fantastic week there even with the flying ants. The view is amazing, listening to the sea is so relaxing. Being a dog owner this is a beautiful lodge and pet friendly better than most dog friendly places I have been before. The Owner Jan is so friendly and helpful so there’s a big plus straight away. We would have booked again for next year but wanted a hot tub holiday so we are still on the same site but a little further down. Thank you Jan for wonderful holiday your lodge is a credit to you.

    I thought I was booking a luxury lodge but it was very basic. No mirror in bedrooms to style hair. Shower in ensuite didn't drain. Had to use plunger to unblock. Shower tray slippery. Bath slippery and no grabrails. Had to buy shower mat to feel safe. Light switches inside bathroom which I am sure is illegal. Large gas ring dangerous as kept exploding. Oven door dangerous as does not always stay open. However the lodge was spacious, very clean and had a beautiful view.

    A mixed review I’m afraid. This is the fourth time in the last year that we have stayed on this site, the previous three times at the neighbouring lodge 6 Cliff View. We have also stayed prior to this at 10 Sea Cliff, so we know what to expect. Upon arrival there was no WIFI. Reception told us the next day that the site’s WIFI had been recently upgraded (They said the week before). They blamed the owner for not upgrading the lodge’s router but the owner blamed the site adding it would not be sorted until the following week. It’s a shame we were never warned that this would be an issue prior to our stay. Either way we had no advertised WIFI for the whole week’s duration of our stay and were the only real losers in this case. The second issue we had was the TV reception. Initially over the weekend it was dire with the screen continually going black several times a minute. The owner suggested watching the TV in standard definition rather than HD. This made no difference. The weather was not a factor as it did the same in all conditions. In the end I purchased a DAB radio from the local Tesco on the Sunday as the TV became unwatchable, however the problem did appear to improve over the remainder of the week but by no means did it disappear. The third problem was the smell in the bathroom, which has been well documented by previous guests. The room has a definite mildew smell at all times but hours after using the washing machine a very unpleasant drain smell manifested requiring windows and doors to be opened for long periods to allow dispersal, which is not ideal when it is cold outside. I believe the problem is due to residual trapped water in the waste pipes somewhere between the washing machine and the bathroom hence the mildew smell and a problem with one of the traps in the bathroom. Time to call in an expert on this one. I would also like to add that although warning signs are clear regarding the decking being slippery when wet, it is covered by a plastic coating which actually makes it less slippery than timber decking but when frozen however it is treacherous as I found out on Tuesday morning. The new carpet is a bonus which we were aware of, having seen it being fitted during our last stay here at the end of October and the lodge itself has been very comfortable. It has a new oven and a new Dyson vacuum which was a pleasant bonus. It is an idyllic area with the best of all worlds. Very peaceful and “tranquil” with stunning views no matter what the weather is like outside, which you will never tire of however when it is really cold outside, pouring down with rain and you have to spend time indoors then you will rely on modern creature comforts which sadly was lacking on this occasion.

    Spectacular location and views from the lodge and ideally situated for visiting nearby locations . Our only issue during our stay was the fact that there was an issue with the drains which meant that the lodge was,at times,overcome with a really foul sewage smell. We reported this to the site management and they tried to identify the issue but it eventually improved. Just be warned that,when it rains,you could encounter the same issue. Nevertheless,we enjoyed our stay and the incredible views.

    Tranquility is situated directly overlooking the sea and the location could not be better. It is a warm property and has a spacious lounge, large smart tv, en suite to main bedroom and a bathroom. It also accepts one small dog, so all good so far. Unfortunately that is where it stopped as far as we were concerned. The advertised wifi only worked for two days whilst we were there, apparently the owner had been told it would be down, but did not notify us, so as there is little or no phone signal we could not monitor our home security via wifi. The advertised welcome pack was an insult - 3 tea bags, 5 mismatched coffee sachets, uht milk capsules and a couple of biscuits - really this is not a welcome pack!! By far the main issue though was the terrible smell in the main bedroom and ensuite. No amount of airing or bleaching toilets and drains killed the smell. It was so bad that we cut short our stay by two nights as we could not stand it any longer. We notified owners agent on route home so they had time to investigate before next customer arrived. However we were really annoyed to find that the owner had received two previous complaints about the smell - we had naively assumed the problem had only just occured. Added issues were that the vacuum cleaner was useless, despite cleaning out the filter - not my normal holiday occupation. The handle to the bifold doors came off in our hands, obviously broken by previous occupant, so we could not use them. The extractor fan and light in the shower of en suite did not work, nor did the outside light. The carpets were very stained and needed a good clean at the least, but could do with replacing. We did receive a small amount of compensation, but this did not make up for the fact that our holiday was a complete let down. If all the issues were fixed and the smell from the sewer was completely sorted out, Tranquility could have provided a lovely peaceful holiday. In its present condition it is best avoided.
