• About Treacle Cottage

Treacle Den and Treacle Cottage are two cosy little cottages ideal for couples looking for somewhere to get away from it all. Situated in the grounds of the owner’s home on a quiet lane in the countryside, both cottages are cleverly arranged for maximum privacy, ensuring a peaceful retreat. Within 100 yards of the cottages lies an excellent local pub that enjoys a superb reputation for its restaurant. There is an excellent selection of beaches to explore, all within 3 miles, and many beautiful walks including the Royal Military Canal which has recently seen improvements for walkers and cyclists. There are many local villages, gardens, museums, monuments and castles well worth a visit. The cottages sit conveniently within a few minutes’ drive of the motorway yet each enjoys a tranquil spot with countryside to the front and views of Lympne Castle across the fields to the rear. West Hythe is a tiny hamlet within 3 miles of Hythe, Dymchurch and Lympne. Set in a conservation area, with excellent local walks.

A lovely clean and cosy cottage, a very nice welcome pack left by the owner, everything you could want. Plenty of bird life, and Giraffes on the hill plus deer and Zebras, although the weather wasn't brilliant a very nice private garden for when the weather is good. Would recommend

We enjoyed our stay in the cottage. This was our first visit to Kent and we would happily return to Treacle Cottage. Lovely views from the garden so peaceful and relaxing. Walk along the canal is fabulous. Local brewery is inspired and must be sampled.

Hi My stay at Treacle cottage was awesome. The weather was wet and blustery but the cottage was snug and warm. The shops (a large supermarket) was about a short 10 min drive away. The walks along the canal and then through the surrounding country side was worth every step. I hope to enjoy the comforts of the cottage again when I next visit that area!!!

It was a super well equipped and cozy cottage that is lovely and quiet, the perfect place for a quiet getaway. The pub over the bridge and across the road served wonderful food and, I thought, good value. The views across the fields up to the castle were magnificent. Although it would be handy to be able to walk to the shops I loved that there was nothing close by, except the pub! The torch to get there was very helpful. If you want somewhere to stay in beautiful surroundings, quiet but within 30 minutes of castles and 5 of a beach then this is the place to be.
