Lovely cottage well situated for touring the Hartland area and North Cornwall. Enclosed garden was great for our golden retriever.

I will book Vanstones cottage again for next year - I loved it mostly due to location :) I have 3 issues to highlight. 1. On the first day I picked up the shower head that was attached to the bath taps by a shower hose and it came away from the hose. It had been taped together with black tape. The tape did not keep them together as the first time I picked it up it came apart and I was unable to use this shower for the whole of my stay. 2. The shower on the wall at the other end of the bath - the water pressure was so great that when I turned this shower on at head height the water quite literally shot across the room through the shower curtain, over the end of the bath and onto the floor. The first time I used the shower the bathroom flooded. Through improvisation I discovered that if I ran the bath taps at the same time as using the shower the water pressure was reduced greatly so had to do this in order to have a stand up shower. Ridiculous! Otherwise I couldn't have a shower. 3. The shower curtain was dirty with mould. 4. The mattresses in the second bedroom are cheap, of poor quality and very uncomfortable. I would highly recommend investing in new, good quality mattresses. I imagine they are ok for a small child but not an adult.

I rented this cottage whilst working in the area and my husband and dog came to visit for a week. The garden is great and secure to let the dog out and have peace of mind that he couldn't get out. It's a comfortable cosy cottage with character. It perhaps could do with freshening up a little but it's well equipped and has an extremely powerful shower. It's in a great location for visiting the local area and Hartland Quay in particular.

If you like the wonderful scenic Hartland coast and wooded valleys, and like walking, this is the place to be. Walks abound from the cottage door, and access to north or south of the Hartland a little further afield doesn't take long, care must be taken when driving on the little high hedged country lanes, blind corners there are many. We were lucky that the weather was sunny and dry, not to warm, the whole week, and we walked most of the coast path between Clovelly and Bude.

The cottage was fine, it was a bit cold at times as the only heating was the central heating, the main focus of a fire was missing! Overhaul it was a good place to stay, however one downfall was the gate at the side of the entrance that needed to be hung so it would open properly,

Cottage was Amazing cosy and very relaxed holiday Area was so beautiful and village is a must Shamrock chippy in village is a must too A lot burner or open fire in cottage would be a good idea Thank you for a good holiday

Quaint thatched cottage with lots of character. Bonus is the cottage has Wi-Fi, however, as other guests have mentioned in the guest book, a clothes airer would be advantageous when you can't hang washing out to dry, and a stairgate in order to stop the guests' dog(s) going upstairs as requested. Vanstones is a cosy cottage in a beautiful area and would consider staying again

Lovely cottage ideal if you want quiet which we did. Furnishings need some upgrading as well worn and a bit shabby in the lounge there is no storage in the 2nd bedroom. A hairdryer would be a good idea. Also the parking is very tight if you have a 4x4 vehicle.
