Lovely spot friendly people. Cottage bathroom in particular could do with updating, especially the shower

The location of this cottage is superb for surrounding attractions, however we were underwhelmed by the accommodation provided. The bedrooms downstairs were cold with dampness and mold an issue in some rooms and then the signs warning of the hot water being very hot were an insult due to having no hot water for 3 of the 4 days staying there. On contacting the owner they turned up and said they had reset the immersion heater for the hot water and would be good within 30 mins. Unfortunately this wasnt the case and then attempts to communicate further were ignored. This is the first negative post I have had to write. The overall rating is very accurate and unfortunately I could not recommend this cottage.

We had such a great stay at Wharf Cottage. The management was friendly and warm, the cottage is spacious and comfortable. It could do with a few more pieces of basic kitchen equipment , ie a tray to cook on or a decent sized casserole dish to make a baked pasta etc. The discount on the day hire for a narrow boat is fantastic! All in all we had a great time and would recommend the cottage.

On arrival the house was freezing cold no heating had been put on. WiFi wasn’t working until we got code from tea rooms next door. Far bedroom with 4 beds was freezing. Radiator didn’t work. Kids were frozen slept with 2 duvets. There was damp and mould coming on outside wall in the bedroom which wasn’t pleasant. Overall property felt damp. Also in welcome guide it mentioned discounts for the tea rooms if you are lodging in cottage. They didn’t know anything about it in tea rooms so refused ang discounts. Wont be recommending.

Lovely location with a little shop and pub on the door step. Fabulous canal side walks with quaint towns within easy driving distance. Would definitely go again.

Good location, cottage is in need of updating. Family room is pretty cold. Linen wasn't overly clean. Wifi is very poor. Couldn't get the bottom oven, extractor fan to work. Strange smell on the ground floor. No lock on bathroom.

Lovely location, would recommend doing the hire a barge for a day ,but really you’d be better off hiring a barge for a week then you could work the locks.staff very friendly and helpful. The only downfall was that ,I don’t think the cottage had been used for a while, and you could strongly smell animals .the oven and extractor fan was dirty eg grease.there was dirty fat in a container in grill section and it smelt stale .but I just cleaned it and didn’t let it put us off our holiday,we had a fantastic time so please don’t let that experience put you off

Cottage was by no means clean - thankfully took anti-bacterial wipes which came in useful on the kitchen sink! Toilet had poo on front of it! Carpets in need of a better vacuum - the Henry vacuum is clearly not up to the job. Shower running slow and heating not on for very long - thank god for the log burner! Stung into paying £2.49 for a 2 litre bottle of water in shop. Two good meals enjoyed at pub by canal.

The location was very nice and the scenery was very good, the cottage was a good size and clean, but it needs redecorating it’s showing it’s age, there is also a smell of wet dog, especially upstairs and there must have been pets there recently as it set my daughters asthma off, also the bath is a worry as the bottom of the bath is very flexible which is disturbing. The kitchen is good and the rooms are a good size, overall it just needs redecorating apart from the kitchen.
