This beautifully presented and spacious Grade II listed barn dates back to the 17th century. Close to the owner’s home it has been carefully restored to a very high standard benefiting from all modern conveniencies. Guests can access the first floor by an oak staircase or a spiral staircase. It was once an integral part of Langdon Barton - the 300-acre working farm which has been in the same family for 110 years and still in use. A 15-minute walk over fields leads to Wembury beach offering rock pools a National Trust café and bathing. Here you will also find the South Devon Coastal Footpath with stunning sea views of Mewstone Island and across Plymouth Sound to the Cornish coastline and on a clear day in the distance you can see the Eddystone Lighthouse - 13 miles off shore. St Werburgh’s Church standing on the headland above Wembury Beach is in the most stunning location. From here you can follow the coastal footpath and catch the water taxi to Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. Mount Batten for water sports and yachting is just 5 minutes away. Langdon Barton can also offer secure boat parking. The city of Plymouth is just 7 miles away and in recent years has gone through a face lift with its new shopping mall and regenerated waterfront areas. The Barbican at night is bustling with nightlife bars bistros restaurants and shops. Dartmoor National Park is 15 miles. Eden Project is 1\n14\n hour’s drive. Golf 4 miles. ShopPO 2 miles. Pub 500 yards.\n" https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/345/840/345305.jpg 23399

Fantastic place for all our family to enjoy.

The White Dove Barn cottage was perfect for our long weekend break with 5 adults, 1 teenager and 2 kids. The barn has been converted with character to give you lots of space. The open plan lounge, dining room and kitchen on the top floor was perfect for spending time together as a family. The nearest beach is a short drive or walk away. Jon the owner was very welcoming to all of us and gave me a guided tour of the farm to show me the walk to the beach across the farm. He also lets the kids feed an orphan calf and lamb every morning which was a truly great experience for them. We wouldn't definitely go back to White Dove Barn cottage and not just to see our friends who live in Wembury.

Lovely spacious house with good amenities.

The property is extremely spacious but considering the very high price charged it could benefit from some refurbishment and equipment maintenance; for example the cooker control panel signs are worn away so that it is difficult to work out how they operate. The TV remote controls did not work, they are worn out. The interior is very plain and needs brightening up, maybe with some modest artwork on the walls. The lounge while very large has no focal point, there is no fire place or stove for example. While we found the property very clean, we had to buy toilet rolls for the bathrooms and light bulbs were dead in the main bedroom, showing a lack of attention to detail. The main bedroom door sticks shut and is very difficult to open from the inside, it needs a handle. Outside, the grounds are very plain, there are no flowers and little planting in the patio area. Fences and gates are rickety and need a coat of paint. The property is beautifully situated on a working farm in lovely surroundings and the paths and lanes down to Wembury beach are a delight (though very steep!).The owner is very pleasant and took me on his truck to show the paths around the farm, very obliging.

What a fabulous place. The barn itself was incredibly spacious, equipped with everything you would need for a self catering holiday. The location was equally as good for a family break, with the nearest beach being a 10 min walk and more coves to choose from a short drive away. The children (5,6,9& 10) are already asking when we can go back! A special thankyou to John for being a great host and offering the children the chance to bottlefeed the lamb and calf - a lovely touch.
