Lovely old cottage in quiet secluded country surroundings. The owners, John and Jill are really friendly helpful people. If you want peace and quiet then this is for you. The only down side is that you are miles from any shops , pubs or towns and you need to drive a fair distance to seek out any of these facilities. Make sure you take adequate provisions with you. We loved it.

Took or family on a much needed getaway, the plan being to relax away from the hurly burly in some beautiful scenery, potter around the local sights and mostly have some much needed down time. John & Jill were so lovely, making us feel very welcome, helping where needed. We visited Hadrian's Wall, Hexham Abbey, Lindisfarne, Cragside and a fair bit of Jedburgh.

Birch cottage is a fantastic location for all that North Northumberland has to offer. The host's were excellent and very friendly. The cottage has everything you'll need a comfortable stay. The wildlife is outstanding and the CCTV around the farm is brilliant. One downside was the late check-in and early checkout. meant a two night stay was very short and felt we had to rush out on the morning we left. We would definitely stay longer if we had the chance. A really pleasant stay in a beautiful location. Beware the morning and evening Midges.

A gorgeous cottage set in a stunning location, very rural and quite remote, hence lower score for local amenities, but that was fine by us! John and Jill are fabulous hosts and we would definitely recommend this cottage to friends!!!!!

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. Jill and John are the perfect hosts. Local amenities in Jedburgh or Otterburn. 40 minutes to Kielder Forest and Water park. Scotland is a few minutes drive away. Cottage is well equipped and so cosy and warm. Nice enclosed garden for the dogs to run around in and beautiful walks close by. We had no mobile phone reception, but that didn't bother us! Really good Wi-Fi available at the cottage. My son loved the nature camera, especially watching the barn owls. Would definitely visit again.

Great spacious cottage which is well equipped. Good kitchen fitted with washing machine, dishwasher and tumble dryer plus an excellent sized fridge freezer. We loved the lounge with large comfortable sofa and chairs and when there was nothing worth watching on the TV you can switch to the web cams situated around the farm and watch out for wildlife. We saw 3 barn owls and a fox. The cottage has decent internet which was an added bonus. The location of the cottage is great if you want to venture into Scotland as the border is only a few minutes away and Jedburgh, Kelso and Melrose are within easy reach. A note of caution is that there are no real local amenities and on the route north that we took there wasn't a single petrol station. However there is a petrol station and shops in Jedburgh which is 10 miles away.
