The property is accessed by a ¼ mile rough single bridle track which can be difficult to access during winter months. The building dates back to the 1800s but has been refurbished in 2018 to a high standard. The open plan living and modern kitchen areas offer plenty of space and benefit from a lovely muti-fuel burner perfect for snuggling up after a winter walk. The sun room opens on to an amazing decked area that looks out to natural beauty of the North York Moors National Park. Both of the bedrooms offer Freeview TVs USB sockets and have en-suite shower rooms. You can even catch a train to Whitby and back if you want to leave the car behind for the day and it is an ideal way to link up with the North Yorkshire Steam Railway for a journey into the heart of the National Park. There are many walking and cycling routes literally from the doorstep including across to Danby Castle. Danby also has a visitors centre which is great for finding out more about what the area has to offer and about the nature that surrounds you. There is also a nearby bike hub that offers assistance with routes rental and workshop facilities.\n\nHead towards the coast and enjoy some of the spectacular coastline with a visit to one of many hidden gems such as Staithes with its links to Captain Cook Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay. You can also enjoy a stroll along the famous Cleveland Way along cliff tops and down into the coves and bays once frequented by pirates and smugglers. The popular fishing town of Whitby is a wonderful place to explore whether it’s the cobbled back streets with its shops and tea rooms or the foodie scene with everything from award winning fish and chips to bistros and coffee shops there really is something for everyone. A trek up the 199 steps to get close to Whitby Abbey is worth the effort for the views out to sea and of the town alone. Whitby has many events and festivals all year round so keep an eye on the calendar for whats on when you visit and there are boat trips out to sea all year round weather permitting including trips in search of whales. \nThere are many wonderful towns and villages dotted throughout the National Park and beyond including Pickering Helmsley and Hutton-le-Hole all within an hours drive from Winnow Cottage and plenty more for a day out a little further afield such as York Ripon and Scarborough. A lovely holiday home, set in the peaceful countryside, with walks straight from your doorstep. Close to local amenities and a short drive from the coast means you're spoilt for choice. The cottage is well equipped, comfortable and the owner was very helpful. I would definitely recommend it and hope to return in the future.

This is a beautiful re-furbished little cottage in a perfect location, with walks from the doorstop over the moors, and coastal visits just a short drive away. Sue made sure we had everything we needed, including special touches like a welcome hamper, fresh flowers everywhere and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and trimmings. Even Ruby, our dog, was well catered for with treats and a warm water outside shower when we needed it! The local shop was within walking distance for basic necessities, and the Down Arms pub in the village served us a lovely meal on New Years Eve. I would not hesitate to recommend this place and hope we can visit again soon.

Beautiful getaway, excellent for ramblers /mountain bikers etc as right on the moors, owner is lovely and made us very welcome, stayed for Christmas and cottage was dressed beautifully. Cleanliness top marks, and comfortable ...however a few foot stools would have been nice as we are used to recliners but just a little something we felt would be nice ... kitchen excellent and well equipped .. a little gem

A lovely retreat in a wonderful place. Sue could not have been more helpful and this is the cleanest holiday let we have been in. We will be back.

Great holiday! Lots of lovely walks, plenty to do in the area within a short car ride. Pubs are fantastic around the area also with locally sourced food. Had a very relaxing week and the dog loved it too! Would love to go back soon if we can get away again! Thank-you for a great stay - from the Fletchers.

Had a lovely holiday with friends and our 2 dogs. We couldn’t let ours off the long leads because their recall is not reliable enough but they had such fun running about the moor right outside the front door on long lines. The cottage is well equipped. Beds very comfortable. Lounge seating area has enough for 4 but a second sofa would make the space perfect for lounging. Lovely wood burner for cold days. Previous comments about the owners field and dogs and adjoining door in my opinion are unfounded. We had no issues with accessing the field or our dogs at the adjoining outer door. Ours were always desperate to get out onto the hills to track. Only down side is the access road but had been pre warned it was an unmade road.

Lovely quiet location with outstanding views nearby. Every effort has been taken to make this cottage memorable in a positive way.

Beautiful cottage. Spotlessly clean. Lovely welcome pack. bread, butter, milk and cake and fresh flowers in every room. We knew the cottage was described as semi detached but was shocked to find a connecting door in the entrance hall that led into the owners kitchen. the entrance hall also was the location to the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms.. we found this a bit off putting. Our dogs knew the owners dogs were in the kitchen and we had difficulty keeping our dogs away from her kitchen door... Although the advert showed a picture of a beautiful garden taken from the cottage we were told on arrival if we wanted to use the garden to keep dogs on lead.. fair enough.. but to not let them do their business ..we can't control our dogs bladders/bowels so we never used the garden.. The field that the owner said we could use was very overgrown with weeds and nettles and needed to be cut back.. I noticed someone had already made a comment about this in the guest book. Lovely decking area but again was asked not to let the dogs do their business on it which I can understand but again we can't control their bladders/bowels for them. so we ended up not using the decking area.. The garden furniture was all packed away under a heavy duty tarpaulin , we were told we could use it but to recover straight after use, this was because feral cats were leaving 'presents' on the seats. Wifi is advertised but we could not get 3 separate devices to connect only place we could connect to Wifi was outside the corner of the owners house. We also felt the two comfy armchairs up in the big bedroom would be put t o better use downstairs rather than the two smaller and less comfy chairs in the living area. The track down to the cottage is very rough but we managed no problem in a estate car. Overall a lovely cottage with everything you need for a self catering holiday but we wont return due to the restrictions put in place for the dogs (we are responsible dog owners and pick up after them , but can't control their bladders so we did not use the garden/decking area for fear of the dogs having a 'wee'.)

This was the best cottage we have stayed in over the last 15 years. The accommodation and furnishings were first class. It was spotlessly clean had fresh flowers in every room and a welcome pack of basics plus yummie cake. Brilliant can’t praise it enough.

What a beautiful cottage. We were welcomed by Sue the owner in person with fresh flowers in every room a loaf of bread, milk , butter and ginger cake , just so thoughtful. Central location for us as we busted Whitby , Robin Hood bay and Saltburn all only a short distance to travel . The bridal way gave us a lovely walk from the door step into Castleton with our little dog Molly . We would 100% recommend this outstanding cottage and hope to visit again .
