Modernised by the owner to the very highest specification with every conceivable modern day convenience luxuriously furnished and equipped to an excellent standard. The garden is a real feature of the house. Known as the Image Garden it is laid out in Italianate style and is full of statues and sculptures created by a previous owner in the early 19th Century - the multi-talented Thomas Bland artist poet composer and scientist. Every year they held a garden party for up to 1400 people to celebrate the accession of Queen Victoria. The property can accommodate up to 15 people ideal for large family gatherings or walking parties.\nReagill is a delightful village situated in the unspoilt Eden Valley. This area is probably Cumbria’s best-kept secret with picture postcard villages and beautiful rolling countryside. It is ideal for walking and cycling and offers fishing on the Eden. Nearby attractions include Brougham Castle Acorn Bank house and gardens Rheged Discovery centre and Wetheriggs Pottery. Reagill is easily accessible from the M6 and just a stone’s throw from The Lake District Yorkshire Dales and Scottish Borders. The nearest town is the market town of Appleby famous for its horsefair or the larger town of Penrith is just a 15-20 minute drive.\nThe property can be booked along with Knipe Hall ref CC118178 for larger parties. Knipe Hall has the additional feature of a Party Barn which can be made available by arrangement with the owner of the properties. The owner is also able to assist with transport between the two properties along with organising cycle hire fishing and horse riding by prior arrangement.     The house itself is beautiful however the lock on the front door is faulty and we were advised to leave unlocked for the duration of our stay! As we were travelling with young children this was not satisfactory. The hot water and heating did not work for the majority of our stay and we actually left earlier than planned as we got sick of taking cold showers. Also, whilst the house is in a nice spot there are no local amenities nearby and you need to drive to the nearest shops which were in Shap. Hence, I would most definitely NOT recommend this property.

    Overall very good and suited our needs very well. However ther were a few criticisms- log fires produced a lot of smoke in the rooms; a number of lights did not work esp in kitchen; the toaster only half worked; the armchair in our room was broken; a mattress needed replacing; some window catches were broken. In spite of these issues all our party enjoyed our time at Yew Tree Farm

    Fantastic place for a family get together. Spectacular views. Lovely place although a few things need looking at. The general upkeep of the place needs more attention.

    Wonderful and unusual house but it is much in need of a makeover. It was very cold when we arrived and took several days to warm up - even then some rooms remained icy. The lounge did not benefit from underfloor heating like the rest of the ground floor and relied on a wood-burner. The main problem however was no hot water in several rooms and despite discussing this with the owner and the maintenance man it was not resolved so we left early.

    The house is a brilliant size for families and not too far from Shap and Penrith. We loved being out in the countryside although the animals woke us up early!! The rooms were a great size and lots of equipment. But there were a few things that didnt work properly like a couple of lights and the some of the toilets were dripping! My one main negative though is that my daughter contracted folliculitis from the hot tub. Just something for the owner to bear in mind! Overall a good stay. I'm not sure I'd recommend when it's very warm as we had to deal with hundreds of flies due to the warm temperature in the middle of the house. Would be lovely and cosy in winter though!
