The Languedoc on France’s Mediterranean coast boasts some of the best weather in France, so Les Sables du Midi is a favourite of sun seekers. The villages is idyllically situated near the protected "Canal du Midi", surrounded by vineyards and just a short stroll from Valras Plage, a classic French mediterranean resort. With plenty of entertainment on site from themed evenings, cabarets, games nights, karaoke and show time, there’s something for everyone.
The sandy beach is only 10 minutes away.
Valras Plage harbour is home to some delightful bars and restaurants, many of which offer live music during the evening.
A short drive away is Cap d’Agde, which the locals think of as a smaller version of St Tropez. The bustling port is home to some seriously impressive yachts and there is also an impressive selection of shops, restaurants and bars to dive into. If your tastes are less modern head to Carcassonne, the finest medieval fortified town in Europe. Carcassone’s castle featured in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and there are museums of the middle ages (including one where kids can be knighted). Equally impressive is the famous Canal du Midi. You won’t have time to explore the entire 235km, but book a boat, bicycle or horse for a fantastic day-long sightseeing activity. When it all becomes too much you can relax with a great Languedoc wine; the region is also the world’s biggest producer, bottling more wine than Australia.
