Situated on the busy A75, quite a lot of traffic noise even through the night as this is the main route to the ferry terminals, cottage itself, large, basic but clean, not really enough plates and cutlery, a family of 4 would struggle and eat in sittings, could do with a few more things like table matts, coasters etc, there was a welcome pack with tea, coffee, sugar and a couple of biscuits, 2 tea towels, sponge and washing up liquid, 2 dishwasher tablets, and a few bin bags, only bath towels supplied no hand towels, had to clean the table as it looked liked it had been cleaned with a greasy cloth and the flying pan was un-usable, filthy, reception did give us a new one, the beds!! so uncomfortable and you could feel every spring in the mattress, new ones are required! with a few more touches this could be a luxury cottage, on a plus side the hot tub was fab for relaxing after longs days of walking and exploring the area, you had the use of the caravan park facilities across the road, swimming pool, club and bar and the food in the bistro was good, plenty of choice and friendly staff, they have a on site shop if you have forgotten anything, overall for what we paid we had an enjoyable week using as a base to explore Galloway and surrounding areas.
