Parks and Lodges - Important information
Please read this Important Holiday Information with the Booking Conditions.
- Activities and facilities
The location details list all facilities that are available, all applicable dates, and also whether they are included in the hire charge, or charged extra. Check with our booking team to clarify the cost of any of the facilities, or ask for details on arrival. Opening dates and times may vary, and there may be age and/or height restrictions on certain facilities and activities. Opening times may be limited outside the main holiday season. Some activities may also require adult supervision. You should check with us when making your booking to be sure whether facilities or activities will be available to you and all others in your party. Entertainment and children’s activities are usually free, but sometimes a club membership fee is charged.
The accommodation Owner reserves the right to alter or withdraw amenities or facilities or any activities without prior notice where reasonably necessary due to repairs, maintenance, weather conditions and circumstances beyond their control. Where we are aware of the withdrawal of facilities in advance we shall endeavour to inform you. The owner is responsible for providing all activities and facilities. We do not accept any liability in this regard.
- Arrival and departure
Start days are usually Friday, Saturday or Monday but alternative start days may be available, please check when booking. To allow time to prepare your accommodation thoroughly, please follow the guidance times on your confirmation for arrival (usually 4.00pm) and departure (usually 10.00am).
If you are expecting to arrive later than 6.00pm or you encounter delays en route please telephone the park or owner (as detailed on your confirmation) to make arrangements for collection of the keys. Please note that some receptions close at 8.00pm. If your expected arrival is later than this, you may have to arrange alternative first night accommodation at your own expense.
If you have to cancel your booking, please call us immediately. See clause 7 of the Booking Conditions.
Your accommodation will be cleaned before your arrival. As a limited amount of time is available to clean between visitors, please help lodge and park owners to maintain their standards by leaving your accommodation and its contents in a clean and tidy condition. Cleaning is not provided during your stay.
Europe: The accommodation details in this brochure will tell you whether cleaning is included in your hire charge, or whether it is charged at extra cost – either payable on arrival or as you depart.
- Cots and highchairs
Cots and highchairs are available on request at many locations featured. There is often an extra charge for these which will be shown in the description and is payable with your booking charge. Please note that cots and highchairs must be ordered in advance (not all of the bedrooms in your chosen accommodation may be large enough to accommodate cots – if this could be a problem please check with our booking team). Cots are only suitable for children under 2, who may or may not be counted as members of your party – see individual descriptions for details. Linen for cots is not provided.
Europe: Holidaymakers must accept cots and high chairs at their own risk as continental versions may not comply with British Safety Standards, some may conform to European Safety Standards or French Safety Standards instead. We recommend that you bring your own cot linen, as it is seldom provided.
- Currency (Europe)
The currency in Holland, Germany, Belgium, Austria, France, Spain and Italy is the euro (the symbol is ?), Croatia is the Croatian kuna (the symbol is KN), Switzerland is the Swiss franc (the symbol is CHF) and in the Czech Republic it is the Czech Koruna (the symbol is CZK). Please remember that you will need sufficient local currency for any security deposit, fuel charges and for your journey (remember to allow for countries you may travel through, too).
All distances given in this brochure are approximate, and for guidance only.
- Driving (Europe)
Laws, licensing requirements and age limits vary overseas. Please make sure you are familiar with the driving requirements of the country you are visiting.
- Electrical appliances (Europe)
Appropriate plug adapters will be required for all electrical appliances.
- Fishing (UK)
There may be statutory requirements regarding rod licences and closed seasons in the area you wish to fish. It is your responsibility to check this. Visit www.gov.uk/government/organisations/environment-agency or call the Environment Agency on 0370 8506 506.
- Green Tourism
The Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) accredits a range of different types of accommodation providers on their efforts to reduce their environmental impact.
- Groups and party bookings
We define a ‘group’ as a non family party of three or more. The holiday accommodation we and most of the lodges and parks feature in this brochure has been selected with families and couples in mind – and there may be restrictions on group bookings, including stag and hen parties and those with party members under the age of 18. If you want to make a booking with all of the family together or with a large group of friends, please call our booking team on 0345 498 6004. They may be able to help you to book properties which sleep large numbers and/or adjacent or adjoining accommodation at the same location.
- Health requirements (Europe)
No vaccinations are necessary for British or EU citizens visiting the countries featured in this brochure. Visitors from other countries should check requirements with their nearest relevant consulate.
- Heating and air conditioning
The accommodation details will tell you whether heating and air conditioning are available, and whether they are included in the hire charge, or at extra cost.
- Medical treatment
It is a condition of booking that you and all members of your booking party have suitable personal travel insurance for your trip. You can buy the insurance we offer (see pages 303–305) or arrange your own. Please see the booking conditions for further details. British citizens can apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) online at www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-abroad/ or by post or phone. This grants the right to medical treatment under EU social security arrangements and replaces the old E111 form. You may have to pay for the treatment locally and then claim for it on your return home. Not all medical expenses are covered and treatment can be expensive. In addition, unlike personal travel insurance, the EHIC does not cover repatriation in the event of serious illness or accident, and it may not cover your medical or hospital expenses in the event of a road accident, it only entitles you to the same state care provided to residents of the country you are visiting. This may not be free and you will have to pay the same costs as locals if this applies.
- Passports/Visas/European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) (Europe)
You will need a passport to visit any of the overseas destinations we feature. British Citizens do not need a visa, but if you or a member of your party is not a British Citizen or does not hold a British passport, you must check passport and visa requirements with the embassy or consulate of the country or countries you will travel to or through. You can find everything you need to know about your travel requirements at www.gov.uk and travelaware.campaign.gov.uk. You must make sure that you apply for a passport/visa in good time before your trip. If failure to have or supply any travel or other documents needed results in fines, charges and so on which we or the owner or service provider have to pay, you will be responsible for refunding us. If you cannot travel because of such failure, we will not be legally responsible to you. We can ask for any personal details, including passport numbers, if we need to do so.
Exit checks at UK borders for ferry/Eurotunnel travellers – all transport operators need to see the passports of all those travelling when you leave the country. You should allow enough time for this process when planning your journey. Some transport operators may require you to provide advanced passenger information (API) to them before you arrive at port. If this applies to your booking, we will write this on your confirmation documents. You are responsible for providing this information for all passengers and we will not accept any legal responsibility if you fail to do so.
You must apply for a passport and/or visa in good time before you wish to travel, especially if you are applying for your first passport. The UK Passport Service has to confirm your identity before issuing your first passport and you will need to attend an interview. Requirements may change and you must check the up-to-date details in good time before you leave. Information on the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is available at www.gov.uk or from your local Department of Health office. You can apply for a free EHIC online or by post.
- Pet-free accommodation
Please note that we cannot guarantee that pet-free accommodation will be free of allergens and that it has not been previously occupied by an assistance dog.
- Season Dates
For the Price Range panels, the low season and high season date ranges are:
Low Season dates: Jan 5 – Feb 8 2019, Feb 23 – Apr 5 2019, Apr 27 – May 3 2019, May 6 – May 24 2019, Jun 1 – Jul 19 2019, Sep 7 – Oct 18 2019, Oct 27 – Dec 20 2019.
High Season dates: Feb 8 – Feb 23 2019, Apr 5 – Apr 27 2019, May 3 – May 6 2019, May 24 – Jun 1 2019, Jul 19 – Sep 7 2019, Oct 18 – Oct 27 2019, Dec 20 – Jan 4 2020.
- Security deposit
You may need to pay a security deposit on arrival. Where this is the case, it will be shown in the accommodation details, and the approximate cost will be detailed on your booking confirmation. This deposit is payable in local currency and may not be returned until after you have arrived home.
- Service charge (Europe)
At some locations, you may need to pay a service charge on arrival. Where this is the case, it will be shown in the accommodation details. This charge is payable in local currency, and is not refundable.
- Short breaks
Nearly all of the accommodation which we feature is available for short breaks of 2 nights or more. Short break from prices are shown alongside the weekly prices on the individual price panels.
The start days available are usually Monday/Friday and Tuesday/Saturday, at some locations they offer 'any day start'. For pets, cots and highchairs, a nominal amount will be charged at the owners discretion.
- Standard equipment
Every accommodation we feature should contain the following standard equipment, although the styles and size will vary. Each accommodation should be fully equipped and furnished to include fully furnished living accommodation with suite or sofa bed, TV, bedrooms with all bed linen supplied unless stated otherwise (except cot linen) and with beds made up where stated, bathroom or shower room, fully-equipped kitchen with fridge, cooker and ample pots, pans, crockery and cutlery.
There may be some exceptions to the standard equipment when it comes to Pods, Yurts, Shepherd's Huts and Safari Tents, please check the accommodation for full details on what is included in your accommodation before booking.
In Europe it is possible that there will be no oven facility available, please check the accommodation description or ask our booking team if you have any special requirements.
- Start days
Start days are usually Friday, Saturday or Monday but alternative start days may be available, please check when booking.
- Swimming Pool Regulations (Europe)
Local government park rules sometime require proper swimwear in swimming pools with shorts of any description banned. Some sites also require use of swimming caps. The enforcement of this rule does vary park to park but we would recommend taking swimming trunks if this is stated. Any restriction in place will be advised at the time of booking.
- Telephones & mobile phones (Europe)
Most mobile telephones brought from Britain can be used overseas – you will need to check this with your service provider before travelling. However, reception can be erratic in certain areas, and do remember that charges are higher for international mobile calls, and that there can be charges for receiving calls on your mobile outside the UK, as well as making them.
- Television (Europe)
Please note that many of the accommodations we feature do not provide televisions. Where televisions are provided, and the description mentions satellite or cable TV, this does not mean that UK channels are necessarily available and we cannot accept responsibility if no English channels are available. Where a video or DVD player is available, please take your own videos or discs with you.
- Tourist board gradings (UK)
All accommodation must meet our own exacting standards to be included in the Hoseasons brochure. However, where individual parks and holiday lodges have been graded by one of the tourist boards (Visit England, Visit Wales or Scottish Tourist Board), the symbols have been included for your extra peace of mind.
Not all lodges and parks choose to have their accommodation graded, so that doesn’t mean a lack of a symbol implies any less of a standard.
Holiday Park Grading
1 to 5 Star grading of overall holiday parks
1 to 5 Star grading of accommodation only
The Gold Award is Visit England’s award for top scoring four and five star parks. Gold Awards are given to individual units on sites with multiple lettings, therefore you should check with our booking team before booking if you wish to stay in the unit which has been given the Gold Award.
Visit Scotland have their own Holiday Parks Quality Assurance scheme.
- Tourist tax (Europe)
At some locations, you may be required to pay a tourist tax on arrival. Where this is the case, it will be clearly shown in the accommodation details, and the approximate cost will be detailed on your booking confirmation. This charge is payable in the local currency, and is not refundable.
- Virtual tours
At selected locations, you can view a 360° virtual tour of your holiday facilities and accommodation on our website. This gives you the chance to get an all round view inside your holiday accommodation, or perhaps a look around the clubhouse, swimming pool or grounds. - Wheelchair access
Information about ‘Wheelchair access’ appears in the park information tower, alongside the location description where some accommodation (the principal rooms* and the surrounding garden or grounds) is accessible to one visitor in a wheelchair. Help from other members of the booking party may be required to assist with some manoeuvres, and access cannot be guaranteed to all of the facilities and grounds at the location. Please self-assess your mobility level using the following accessibility rating system developed by VisitEngland and known as the National Accessible Scheme, then a booking agent at our call centre can assist you to choose suitable holiday accommodation in a location that matches your requirements. In England only, the following Mobility Impairment categories apply;
Mobility Level 1:
Suitable for older and less mobile guests. If you can climb a flight of stairs, but banisters or grip handles would make it easier.
Mobility Level 2:
Suitable for part-time wheelchair users. If you have problems walking or can walk a maximum of 3 steps, or need to use a wheelchair some of the time.
Mobility Level 3:
Suitable for independent wheelchair users. If you’re a wheelchair user and travel independently.
Mobility Level 4:
Suitable for assisted wheelchair users. If you’re a wheelchair user and travel with a friend or family member who helps you with everyday tasks. In Scotland and Wales only, the following categories apply:
Suitable for independent wheelchair users.
Suitable for wheelchair users travelling with assistance.
Suitable for someone with limited mobility but able to stand, walk a few paces, and (in some circumstances) up a maximum of three steps.
It is very important that you inform us at the time of booking about any special needs and that you particularly read no. 13 – Disabilities and medical problems and no. 18 Special requests in the Booking Conditions. You must understand that we will pass on details of your special requirements to your chosen holiday park or lodge supplier, but we cannot make any guarantees on their behalf.
*Principal rooms means the sitting room, dining room, kitchen, one of the bedrooms, a WC and a bathroom or shower room.
- Wi–Fi Access
Where Wi-Fi is an advertised facility please note that its provision is subject to availability and network conditions. It may not be available 24 hours and is provided for pleasure not for business. Bookings are not accepted if they are wholly reliant on the uninterrupted provision of Wi-Fi. Download limits may apply, please check when booking.
