Overall, we had a lovely week, we would recommend the site as long as you arent expecting 5* luxury. We would return as we are more interested in family friendly places which offer attractive, affordable accomodation.
Overall we were very pleased, as we had a lovely short break in May. We did go the week before May half term, but were disappointed that the restaurant on site was closed, upon reflection, and given how quiet the site was, we do now understand this descision. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful.
Our lodge was beautiful and immaculately clean if a little tired in places (to be expected in a family holidsy home). The twin bedrooms are very very small, and if you are on the larger size, you may struggle in the single beds- my friend ended up sleeping on the sofa. My teenage boy had the double bed as his feet were hanging off the end of one of the single beds and getting burned on the radiator directly underneath, however the matresses were very comfy, i slept well during our stay.
We had a list of rules for the hot tub on arrival, which was initially a bit daunting, however, upon closer inspection, they are just common sense and we had no problem with adhering.
Dont expect to drink wine in there at midnight though, as no drinks are allowed and curfew is 11pm!
Also, having read some of the other reviews about the hot tubs being dirty and grotty, i would like to clarify that the water in the hot tub was definately clean but there is a lot of calcium/mineral build up on the inside of the tub/jets, so it isnt crystal clear.
We were told when we asked, that the water gets replaced for each new rental and is pumped up from underground, so it makes sense that the water would be hard, given the natural minerals in it. I have hard water at home and its the same kind of build up that i get, so we had no issue with it. The chlorine seemed quite strong though, and irritated my sons skin quite badly.
The swimming pool is quite small, but we were happy with it for the kids, and there is a shallow kids pool next to it, but im not sure how it would feel on a busy week.
The changing rooms are communal, and the whole changing area and shower/toilet could do with a refit as it is very old and tired, but we found it adequete and everything worked.
