The lodge was in a lovely condition, perfectly clean, and decorated nicely, in a warm and homely way.
The sofa and armchair was a bit tired and worn out - possibly that was because we had dogs, so they gave us a lodge with less than perfect furniture? However, there is a rule that dogs aren’t allowed on the sofa or the bed, which we felt should have been mentioned in the information we were given before arriving. We were greeted with that information when we got into the lodge, and it was disappointing. Our dogs sit on the sofa and on our bed at home, so we had to constantly prevent them from doing so - not ideal, or relaxing for any of us.
The layout of the kitchen is unusual, with the kettle and plugs on the other side of the lodge to the sink, there is little or no food storage, and the cooking equipment was a bit scant. But it all looked lovely and worked well. The fridge and freezer were huge.
There is good patio furniture and the hot tub was great. Although ours had the head rests removed, which made it a bit uncomfortable. And the person who came every day to maintain the hot tub always made us jump, because they never knock, they just show up on the decking. But I suppose that’s because they have so many to check, and that slight problem is preferable to the hot tub not working or having poor water conditions, which wasn’t ever the case.
It was just the two of us in a six person lodge, and we did say we were glad there was only two of us! There was only seating around the dinner table for four comfortably, with one spare chair, and six people would have had to squeeze on the sofa and armchair. But there were two loos. The double room was great, and the two twin rooms were very small - OK for children but I wouldn’t have thought so for adults, comfortably.
