On arrival, the decking was covered in twigs, lodge smelt of wet dog, freezer had defrosted all over kitchen floor and appeared to be not working,
We complained to reception about water and smell in the lodge, and asked for another lodge, none were availible,
The lady at reception was very quick to inform me that it was probably my fault for booking 'a lodge for pets' because I'd booked it online!
I thought surely I'd have to tick a box to request a pet friendly lodge,
so I checked later and found it on the booking form,
when the box was ticked it charged me an extra £40,
I checked my booking confirmation and I had definatley not booked a pet friendly lodge,
(mainly because we don't have pets and I'd notice if the price had risen by £40)
I feel the lady in reception was rude and told me a lie just to get rid of me,
and even had the ordacity to say it was my fault!
They did send somebody round to turn the freezer on, but they left the puddle of water on the kitchen floor,
So I spent the first evening of my break cleaning the floor and emptying the freezer drawers of water and ice and washing them out,
I was surprised to see when pulling the freezer out to mop up, the power supply for the freezer was just an extension cable sat on a block of chipboard on the floor, which was soaking up the defrosted water,
I'm sure this dosn't follow any proper saftey regulations for electrical installations in holiday accommodations?
We were leaving on the Saturday, our neighbours left on the friday, so we had chance to witness the clean up operation,a man came round with a leaf blower and cleaned the deck next door of twigs and tree debris . . . and blew it mainly all over our deck!
then he left,
so I think although this lodge is surrounded by woodland, it should've been cleaned before we arrived?
all the lodges around us had there windows left open to air them out by the cleaner,
We didn't receive ours in this condition,
it was as though it had been vacant for a while before we came, the smell of dog was so bad we had to spend our own money on airfreshners and fabreeze to spray the carpets, curtains and sofas down,
I'm not sure if it got rid of the smell or we just got used to it after a few days?
we didn't bother unpacking as we didn't want all of our clothes to inherit the smell of the lodge
