• About The Wheelhouse

Nestled at the end of a secluded, private track and overlooking the beautiful River Avon, this lovingly restored former watermill provides the ultimate romantic hideaway and features river views from the verandahs. The sights and sounds of the river as it gently flows over the rapids can be enjoyed from the luxury of your own outdoor hot tub or the two verandahs, one of which can be accessed from one of the double bedrooms – visitors can even try a little trout fishing. Historic Linlithgow’s many amenities are 4 miles; Edinburgh is a 25 mile drive, or by train (every 15 minutes) from Linlithgow.

Absolutely amazing comfortable cottage, with all mod cons. Tranquil river and countryside. Friendly picturesque town, lots of interesting history within a short travelling distance, Linlithgow train station is a good link to Glasgow and Edingburgh. Would suggest you need a car (we didn't have transport) but the 4 mile walk into town is a nice walk, the hot tub when we got back was fantastic. The caretaker who lives half a mile up the road was really helpful. Cannot say enough good things. We loved it.

A fabulous cottage tucked away at the end of a lane. The hot tub was a bonus and not overlooked. The kitchen had most of the equipment that was needed and all areas were clean and tidy. It is about a 15 minute drive to Linlithgow which had everything we needed and was a pretty town to go and meander through. Falkirk and Edingburgh are not too far away either but you do need a car. The owner lived on site and was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

Are only thing we would mention is that both the two showers didn't work very well going hot and cold all the time. And you couldn't run a hot bath

The wheel house is beautiful and well kept. Fairly secluded, you definitely need a car to get into town. The wildlife watching is great from the balcony. The few downsides were the smell from the nearby landfill was not very nice when outside. The hot tub was not as private as it appears from the pictures it is overlooked by the next door neighbour's garage where he works all day every day. And you cannot walk past the owner's house without being harassed by his dogs which was a bit intimidating so I didn't do much walking nearby.
