We have been going to skirlington since my children were little so around 25yrs, we've had some happy memories there and I always sing its praises. Sadly this trip was a big disappointment, so bad we canceled the booking we had for September.
We felt out of place to be honest, it seemed everyone was there just to go in the club which was fine as we don't use it but if we had wanted to we would have felt uncomfortable as it was crowded with regulars that own van son the site and kids and teenagers just running riot.
The hire caravans. Are so close to the club you can't get away from the noise of the music and the crowds passing to go to the club. One night we had 2 girls running around our caravan at 5am in the morning making a racket, we didn't get to sleep until after 1am when the noise from the club settled down.
It's says dogs are aloud on the site as long as kept on a lead but one of the van owners brought her 2 dogs from the private part to where our caravan was and let her dogs off the lead, they both didn't there business and then went back to there own part, this went on the hole weekend.
The diner is lovely but needed cleaning, the tables were dirty and the carpet needed a Hoover and floors needed moping. I've always thought the staff at the site were very friendly but the woman that owns the shop comes across quite rude, made us feel uncomfortable to go in. We've never had these problems in the past, don't know what was going on but it has put us off going again.
The caravan was spotless but the fridge had black mould spores as it seems they had closed the fridge door while the vans have been empty, we had to clean it out before use and the quilt cover on the main bed smelt terrible as if it hadn't been changed sincelast used, had a sweaty smell to it.
Stayed at Skirlington many times over the last few years
The only negative is that the music from the club is far too loud. We stay with a young family and the music woke my 8 year old child up at around 11pm this really needs addressing.
Have been holidaying at this site for many years. Excellent facilities and accommodation.
Music loud on Saturday night, it did not stop till 1am
Need to turn the base down a bit.
Everything else very GOOD.!!!!!
My husband and I love coming to skirlington. We have been coming for years both with our tourer and booking a static. We like how you have everything close by. You have a brilliant club to go to in the evening with acts on over weekend plus the market and onsite facilities. Its a lovely clean site. Your also close to bridlington and hornsea and all other place's on the east coast. We love it I would recommend it to anyone especially with families.
Brand new van - superb! Lovely surroundings; excellent staff. All facilities on site very handy & useful. Bonus of large Sunday market to entertain on first day. Bus service good. Pity there's no pavement/cycle track along B1242. Friday & Saturday evening 'entertainment' is way too loud, if you want an early night - audible 200m away. But rest excellent.
Plenty to do for all the family, loads of fun and plenty to see. Have visited many times and will certainly go back.
Really nice, peaceful park, swimming pool and amusements great for the kids.
Would stay again.
had a great time took my daughter and granddaughter for four nights was pleasantley surprised with our accommodation was top class.
been many times very clean sites, no longer for my family son out grown it/will be looking more for holidays that suites teens. Had good times in the past /more for the younger child.
Lovely place to stay, quiet caravans lovely and clean good facilities on site diner has fantastic food.
Good caravan in an ideal position on site and at the end of holiday wanting to stay longer
We go to Skirlington every year as we love the place, however we were placed in a caravan opposite the club and on a night it was extremely noisy and impossible to sleep through.
Everything else is fine.
1st People to stay in a brand new static caravan, everything brand new inside, central heating was awesome and very welcome as weather was cold and stormy. lovely site, extremely helpful staff, great pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Close to the beach and great dog walking on the cliff tops.
Only slight niggles were the price of the wifi.....( but hey, it kept the kids quiet) and the price charged for 2 dogs, but then again the static was brand new....
