We have recently returned from a week at Pickering Lodges and we enjoyed every minute. The accommodation was home from home, very clean and spacious which was great as we have a young baby. Staff were very friendly and helpful. On arrival we had a bottle of wine and cake in the lodge along with tea/coffee/jams etc, something you don't normally get in a self catering holiday but was a nice touch. The site location is great, we had day trips to Whitby, Scarborough, York all within 40 minutes from the site. We also did a day trip on the North Yorkshire moors railway which travels from Pickering to Whitby through the Yorkshire moors and you can get off at the picturesque villages on route including Goathland the village heartbeat was filmed in, it is pricey but worth it. The bar and restaurant on site had a friendly atmosphere and was great value, they even provide a takeaway service and will deliver meals to your lodge when they are not busy. The only negatives we had was the bed could have done with a new mattress although our sleep wasn't disturbed by this so wasn't a major issue and the bed was very creeky which made it a bit difficult getting in and out without waking our baby who was sleeping in the same room. Also if some attention was paid to the lake it would make a great fishing pool for guests, my husband had an hour fishing and caught several fish but the lake is very weeded which makes it hard to find a clear spot to fish. These were the only negatives we had hence the 9/10 rating given but overall we had a fantastic break and would definitely recommend Pickering Lodges and plan to return. Thanks for a great holiday
Nice relaxing week in quiet surroundings, overall experience would be improved by provision of dedicated reception with improved signage and information regarding check in/out arrangements.
Would defiantly rebook again , kitchen could do with more items in it like cheese grater also a whisk ect , a very relaxing time had by all ☀️
This was our 2nd visit to these delightful lodges and both times our trip has been superb. The lodges are exceptionally spacious and clean whilst the outside space is ideal for relaxing on the wonderful decking with the hot tub being an absolute deal breaker.
This comfortably seated our party of 6 without us being sat on top of each other. Looking up at the night sky whilst relaxing in the hot tub was just heaven. The lakeside setting is quiet and peacful with Spencers Bar on site keeping us fed and watered (Well wine in my case).
Our next visit is the New Year that's going to be a great celebration.
Here's to plenty more of these holiday trips
We had a fantastic time at Pickering Lodges. Would highly recommend! Definitely booking to go again in the future.
Lovely place to stay.
This was our second visit to Pickering, still as good as first time.
Even better now they have the bar and restaurant.
The only disappointment, was the fishing, the main lake needs a lot of the lilly pads removing impossible to fish at the moment.
great log cabins and i will be back great place just to chill and great places around to visit.
fantastic holiday . friendly staff would highly recomend, unfortunatly we had problems with our hot tub on our final evening
lovely clean lodges with open plan dining. large decking area with hot tub and patio which was lovely. kids play which was a hit with the kids. the spencers was good value and the food was lovely
The best log cabin we have stayed in. A great deal of thought has gone into design both inside and out. Very comfortable warm and the welcome pack was a lovely gesture to start your holiday. The Spencer Inn was welcoming with good food and drink on offer. Overall a smashing holiday and we have already booked for next year.
Lovely place for a weekend break, nice lodge, lovely views but a bit disappointed that they could not fit 3 people in for a meal considering we were staying at their lodges, had to walk to the Black Bull for meals but they were very nice!
can highly recommend staying at these lodges Haven't got one negative comment to make We stayed for a midweek break and didn't want to leave Booked already for September and next year they are that nice
A great place to stay and visit the Yorkshire moores, and the North Yorkshire Moores Railway.
Fantastic lodges, beautiful setting, friendly owners, would definitely go again if price remains similar.
A fab time again this was our third stay and three more booked love it
