Great relaxing break
Beautiful location, will re-visit in better weather. Ideal if you like peace and quiet and to completely get away from it all...
We have been going here for 5 years now and love it. We will be booking up for next year Asaph.
In Queenshill Lodges we have found our perfect place for a quiet, relaxing break. Our dog is welcome. We have returned many times.
Lovely stay, beautiful quiet setting. Excellent accommodation. Bed was a bit too hard for our tastes but that is a personal preference. Welcome pack very thoughtful. As commented by others, lounge seats a little uncomfortable but easily fixed with double cushions. Shame there is no pub nearby but was not a big issue. Some comment on electricity costs but, with some credits in hand, it only cost us around £6 over 4 nights in a cold November although we did not use the electic oven - just the microwave. Happy to recommend.
I last stayed at Queenshill, I think over 10 years ago. Returning this November I found that the complex hadn't changed and gave an air of neglect. I found the living room chairs some of the most uncomfortable that I have come across in my years of staying in holiday lodges. The location is ideal for exploring South West Scotland and Border country but this location is crying out for more investment in terms of infrastructure and grounds maintenance. I don't think that I will be returning to this site.
also the dog liked the place - very clean and they gave us an lodge - which was facing on to the grass area, which was helpful for the dog. thank you .
Its a few miles down a single track farm road to lodge. Only lodges on site nothing else. You need to travel at least 10 miles to get food. So perfect if you want a quite peacefull time but you need to travel to get out and about. Loacal walking paths not for bikes unless you want to damage it as very rough and potholed.
me and my wife loved it. close enough to castle douglas and kirkudbright for shopping etc but so tranquil it felt like you were 1,000,000 miles away fromthe hustle and bustle of normal life. highly recommend for a peaceful break away.
Did not see any staff during stay
Saw no staff until last but one day. Black Mould on ceilings in two rooms. Uncomfortable bed and sitting room furniture, broken seat on patio.
Very nice setting with lots of wildlife and lovely walks. Bedrooms and bathroom were fine, although beds were a bit hard. Living room not very comfortable. Could do with more comfortable seating. Accommodation wouldn't be very appropriate in colder, wet weather as a bit fusty in summer time even.
All lodges quite private. Beautiful grounds, hills, woodland and streams..... Perfect for children and dog to explore.
10 min drive to lots of attractions for children.
Cannot fault this short break, views outstanding. Would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of getting away for some peace & tranquility.
The only reason 'helpfulness of staff' gets 1, is because we didn't see or speak to any member of staff the whole week!.
This was not detrimental to the holiday because we had no need to see or talk to anyone there as the lodge was easy to find & everything was ready for us on arrival & to be fair ,there is a phone number to contact if any difficulty arises.
