After reading other reviews we were expecting it to be peaceful, it certainly was, so relaxing, just what we needed.
Wonderful surroundings, the walled garden was very relaxing to sit in amongst some beautiful flowers. The lodge was very clean when we arrived and the fresh flowers on the table smelt lovely. The owner called to see if everything was ok on the first evening and she gave us some tips on places to visit. She explained where she lived and said to contact her if we needed anything. Our two dogs thoroughly enjoyed the stay, less than 20 meters and they were in the woods. Plenty of wild life, even saw a deer about 200 meters into the woods from the lodge. Beautiful coastline to explore. We can't wait to return, May try one of the cottages at the rear of the lodges next time. Thanks for a wonderful holiday.
The lodges were located in a wonderfully quiet and beautiful area. A brief friendly welcome on arrival, with all the information needed to enjoy a relaxing midweek break. The grounds are peaceful, and ideally located for walking in the area. A 12 minute drive to Castle Douglas means that you are not too far away if you need any supplies. Great area for any bird watchers, red kites were flying overhead every day, and quite a few RSPB reserves within a short drive. The lodges are great value for money, and we will hopefully be returning in the near future as there are still so many places in the area we would like to visit. Great area for geocachers.
We really enjoyed our stay at Queenshill, staff where visible, friendly and very helpful.
Our lodge was clean, chairs are very uncomfortable and do need updating. Setting and surrounding area is peaceful and quiet and very beautiful. Other people on site need to learn to pick up their dog mess as it is clearly requested they do so. We had a dog with us and found it upsetting that other people do not feel the need to clean up after their pets. Also dogs off leads!! Not the staff's problem but irresponsible owners.
Recently stayed here with the kids and our dog. We were not disappointed! Our lodge was ideally situated! It was completely private and there was so much space outside for kids and dog to play while we sat and relaxed on the decking.
There were games and dvds on hand to borrow and booklets left for us to plan our days out.
Yes its a drive to the nearest village but if you stock up on arrival theres no problem. Plus the tearoom along the road is fab and very friendly (dog friendly too!)
Within short drive of the beautiful village of Kircudbridge which had so many events on the weekend we stayed from the tattoo to classic car show.
Without doubt we would definately stay here again.
A beautiful, tranquil place. A place to go if you want to escape the rat race. The owners are really friendly and helpful. We definitely would like to go back.
Lovely location and some very nice walks from the site. Really enjoyed staying so close to the Galloway Forest Park and saw a lot of wildlife. After filling the bird seed holders we spent hours watching the different birds feeding plus the wild bunnies running about. Our dogs had a good holiday too. Everything we needed in the lodge, very well equipped (even a washing machine). Would love to return.
The lodge was clean and the satisfactory. We can offer some constructive criticism the furniture is so uncomfortable, it was impossible to relax. Other than that we would book again.
Good value for money. Open spaces to walk dogs.
Location and surroundings Lovely. Staff never saw any really apart from one guy ridding around on a lawn mower.
Value for money NO not really, I expected more for my money, I expected it to be clean and things in working order.
I also wasn't aware of the hidden charges for the electricity. I think it is outrageous having to pay an extra £7.80 for the electric we had used , especially when the essentials like:- cooking and showering that are a must. I thought when I booked and paid in full that everything was included.
Beautiful, peaceful location with easy access to many local attractions, proximity to ferry port a real bonus. Surrounded by lots of lovely villages to explore.
preferred the lodge with hot tub,
Great place, very quiet. Just what we needed.
Very quiet location perfect if you want to be well away from the madding crowd. Great if you are wanting long walks with the dogs.
Very close to A75 so very easy to access all parts of the region.
Poor telephone/Internet reception on site so no constant interruptions.
Wouldn't recommend it for young families who rely on electronic devices for their entertainment due to its very quiet location but for me- ideal.
A lovely peaceful hideaway.
We had a good stay and the lodge was very clean.
