We stayed at Heronsview for my friends 21st Birthday there was 5 of us (girls) staying at the lodge we absolutely LOVED it.
We cant wait to book again for my birthday! :D as soon as you walk in the lodge you will understand why, there decorated beautifully very clean modern and very big! in a great place very quiet, neighbours were quiet the hot tub was great and clean it was just the perfect weekend away with the girls definitely recommend!!
And also if you follow instructions correctly to get to the lodge they are very easy to find!! you can walk down the field and there is a path to Rudyard lake.
It was a home away from home and we never wanted to leave! :)

we stayed in herons view and it was lovely. Gorgeous location. Really relaxing holiday. The overall cabin was nice. Very clean and warm. Although we didn't have a oven all week we had to cook on the hob. We was told the man was coming to fix it. But he never turned up.
I would recommend herons view

Perfect....however, needs a new fridge as our food wasn't kept cold.
Only a minor problem that can be easily resolved.... Fab holiday and accommodation x

Lodge lovely ,clean ,spacious, plenty storage. furniture all in good condition. Hot tub an extra bonus! No faults with lodge except the road into it.

Lovely lodge - personal touch with owner ringing week before with directions and details about the lodge. The lodge and surroundings are lovely and the lake stunning - helped with the weather being so hot and sunny ! Would definitely be booking to stay again. Maybe only comment would be attention to detail - bedside light in king room didn't work; no towel rail - it had obviously fallen off the wall. Little things....but then again if noone tells the owners these things they don't know !!! Def recommend and hope to go back soon.

As a group of 6 girls we stayed at the Heronsview in Rudyard Lake. The lodge was well stocked and a good size. The hot tub was checked everyday by a maintenance man. It was excellent value for money and all 6 agreed that we would highly recommend it

Really enjoyed our stay first trip away with our 5 month old baby. A home from home with lovely surroundings. Fantastic firework display which we could see from our decking. Also great walks for the dog.

Area quite hard to get too from the north east, got stuck in heavy traffic trying to get there on a Friday.
Very handy for Alton Towers.
Directions could be better, also instruction on how to get key for lodge were right at the bottom of the initial booking receipt, should be repeated on final information.

A beautiful centre especially for walking and train riding. So many varied walks are possible without driving far. We missed having a local shop except for the caravan park which was very limited.

Lovely lodge very well equipped only down side was spa was not very bubbly

Lodge was absolutely beautiful and extremely spacious. Some minor updates probably needed in both bathrooms but did not effect holiday at all. Had a blown bulb for outside light, contacted manager who came out next day to repair. Hot tub was amazing, well worth extra money :) Scenically the area was beautiful but not much around to do if your one who needs to be busy. Overall, amazing holiday.

Had a great time at Rudyard, would recommend it to friends and family, hot tub could of been warmer for us, that's the only issue we had, lovely clean comfortable lodge, home from home.

Fantastic time.very clean lodge which is so homely. Pitty there isn't a village pub nearby but then again nice to have the peace and quiet.fab few days.thank you

The lodges are not numbered so we found it difficult to see which lodge was ours only going by the name and we were told there was a key safe that needed a code and this was not the case. On arrival there was a patch of water by the dishwasher which was a bit worrying but we didn't have any further leaks while we were there (don't forget your dishwasher tablets as there isn't any washing up liquid in the lodge). There is plenty of space in the lodge and there is pretty much everything you'll need for your stay. The bed is quite uncomfortable and the mattress definitely could do with being replaced. The bedding is quite worn and needs updating but it was clean. The bathroom and ensuite again needs updating but they were both clean. The remotes for the TV and DVD didn't have any batteries in them but this wasn't really an issue and there are free view channels to choose from.
My rating is lower than it would have been due to the fact there was an issue with the hot tub. One of the jets was broken and water was gushing out like a waterfall (it was a jet around the top). This was very noisy and not at all relaxing. I phoned the owner who didn't answer but did get back to me quite quickly. He said to put more water in so the jet was submersed which would reduce the noise. He said he would come and look at it the next day but would need to order a new part. So I spent a fair while filling the tub with bowls of water. The hot tub was definitely not working to its full capacity as the jets are weak and there is not much water movement. I have no idea what the 2 dials are for on the tub as neither of them appeared to do anything. If the tubs are emptied and cleaned every time someone goes in then shouldn't this have been noticed and fixed?
The area is beautiful and there is a walk around the lake which we did every day and if you go all the way around its 5 miles. The walk is lovely to do and our dog loved it! There really isn't anything to do but we went for peace and quiet and to just relax so if that's what you want then it's perfect. We took all our food and drink with us so we didn't even go in to the nearest town so I can't comment on that.
There is no wifi and phone signal is weak in fact I didn't have a signal for most of the time we were there.
In general I would go back but in terms of value for money I would expect better beds, bedding and wifi would be nice.

Great lodge, would stay again.
Could use some considerable improvements to the access road.
it would be better if there was WFI available other than that everything was perfect

We couldn't have asked for better!
Heronsview was perfect for a long weekend with the girls! (Kids, blokes and dogs came along later!) The property was great and the owners had thought of most things (managed to cook a roast with all the trimmings). It was a really nice open plan space, clean and modern and had a lovely big double window where we could watch the squirrels and birds!! Had better hot tubs (but that's just being picky - it was great) Had access to the lake (5mins away) and canoes! Had a good 5mile walk around the lake and the steam train was a great little surprise for the kids!
Great little find and we'll certainly be booking up again for next year!!
