Easter holiday breaks

The Easter holidays are synonymous with family fun, festivities and activities, as both children and adults earn a well-deserved break to spend time with loved ones. It’s also a popular time to go on holiday, whether that's just for the long bank holiday weekend or for the school holidays which last a couple of weeks. Luckily, you don’t need to spend hours on a plane to find your perfect getaway, as the UK has plenty to offer when it comes to spending your Easter break here.

Ideas and activities for the Easter holidays in the UK

Go on an Easter egg hunt

An Easter egg hunt is a fun activity for both adults and children to enjoy. Many of us have fond memories of finding those chocolate eggs your parents have hidden around the house or garden, and this is a tradition that passes from generation to generation. If you’re planning to go away for the Easter holidays, discover one of the National Trust Easter trails and egg hunts, where many of the UK sites offer special themed trails, crafts and games in England, Scotland and Wales. Perfect for your Easter family break! If you’re booking one of our lodges, holiday parks or cottages, there’s no need to leave the fun Easter traditions at home – why not plan your own trail inside or around the garden? Many of our family-friendly holiday parks even offer onsite entertainment, with themed fun throughout the year.

              Join an Easter parade

Colourful costumes, Morris dancing, decorated floats and lively music – this is just some of what you can expect to experience at an Easter parade in the UK. For small villages and towns, it’s a chance for the community to come together and celebrate local traditions like egg-rolling and Easter bonnet-making. In big cities like Manchester, London and Glasgow, you can expect a throng of people gathering to admire the impressive procession of floats; street performers and dancers to entertain the crowds; and child-friendly activities like face painting and egg decorating.

              Experience the joys of spring

Easter usually falls in late March or early April, meaning it coincides with the beginning of spring. This season is associated with renewal, as the flowers start to bloom, the temperature begins to rise, the birdsong sparks up again and the days become longer. This brings a whole host of new and exciting activities to enjoy out in nature during the Easter holidays. Discover flower-filled gardens and hidden bluebell woods; go birdwatching at an RSPB nature reserve; pass lambs and rabbits prancing in the fields; and make the most of longer daylight hours with hikes, picnics and bike rides around the countryside.

Short breaks for the Easter weekend

If you're planning a few nights away for the Easter bank holiday weekend, our choice of lodges, holiday parks and cottages are spread out all over the country, making it easy to find the perfect destination for you. If you're heading away with the kids, then the good news is that the majority of our holiday parks are open as normal for the Easter holidays, with facilities like swimming pools and kids clubs in full swing.

Tip: For a great deal on breaks from Good Friday to Easter Sunday or Easter Monday, be sure to use our "4 nights for 3" or "3 nights for 2" feature, and bag an extra night for free.
