Berwyn cottage is in a fantastic location and the use of the heritage railway is great. The only thing that lets the cottage down is the quality of the beds, which are very poor and noisy. We were told that the beds are being changed soon - if this happens then we would be happy to stay there again. The railway staff are excellent

Absolutely fab five days away. The setting, the history, the little touches like wine and food to welcome us, the complimentary train tickets for all our party over the duration of our stay....whats not to love? I can not recommend this place highly enough. Handy for not only the trains but for beautiful walks, places of interest and plenty of places to dine out. House itself just full of superb amenities. Just superb.

This is a lovely cottage but we would not return due I think by next year my wife will no longer be able to manage the many stairs also one of the steps into the property is loose and a trip hazard, The was a nice welcome box which was much appreciated the property did not have a home from home feel. The No Smoking signs were slapped every where on the walls and put on with blue tac whilst a very important sign they could have been placed in a more pleasant and tactful way how about placing them in the picture frames. The Sofas were far too low for any one with bad joints. And as the was no outside space to dry washing as washer dryer would be much more useful than a washing machine. As the cottage is available for 6 people and just three dishwasher tablets is a bit tight. But having said that its in an ideal position for any fellow train heads and in a nice location. If my wife's condition ever improves ( unlikely) I would return.

Beds were awful, strong smell of urine in kitchen/downstairs bathroom. General smell of dog about the place. No source of ventilation in the downstairs bedroom as window sealed up. Property needs a washer dryer as drying clothes was a pain. A5 traffic grated on us after a while. River was lovely. Just wasn't for us in the end.

Wonderful location with stunning views. The Station Masters house is a lovely experience for young and old. The complimentary train tickets are a real bonus to enjoy. The area is full of history and the great outdoors is there for the taking. We enjoyed many walks along the canal to Llangollen. As dog owners, this is a very dog friendly area. We would love to return.

Beautiful location with stunning views. The cottage was very well equipped, very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Local shops within a 5 minute drive and local pubs were wonderful with fresh, homemade meals. Steam trains outside were a bonus!

This is a clean and comfortable holiday home and if you enjoy steam trains it would be hard to find a better place to spend your holiday. Everything was well organised by the hosts with a small welcome basket provided Situated an the platform and overlooking the fast flowing river Dee the location was delightful Would thoroughly recommend even if steam trains are not your priority

A great location but sadly quite a few niggling problems. Lovely view from the living room & ground floor bedroom (river & steam railway). The other rooms look out onto the A5, so not very quiet (plus the headlights of passing cars are a nuisance because the curtains don't quite fit). Very squeaky twin beds on the ground floor, with mattresses clearly chosen for economy rather than comfort. The heating isn't wonderful, the fridge/freezer is too small for 6 people, the stairs need two hand rails and some things had minor faults which would be very easy to put right. Apart from that, we loved the location, everyone was friendly and helpful and, knowing what we know now, we would go again but make sure to take all our own "extras" (every other holiday let we've been to has provided at least the basic essentials (bread, milk, butter, eggs, cheese, soap, shower gel, enough dishwasher tablets, etc). People appreciate these things, and the cost of the rental warrants a bit more than the bare basics. I'm sure everyone does their best to keep the rental going but they need to take a few lessons from the hospitality experts.
