Sun Awareness Week - taking place this year from 12th-18th May 2025 - kicks off an annual summer-long campaign led by the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD), with the aim to help educate the public on the potential dangers and health risks of sun exposure, and the importance of sun protection.
For Hoseasons, this is a topic close to our hearts. After all, we've been providing holiday homes to millions of customers across the UK for over 80 years, welcoming thousands of families to holiday parks and lodges every year. Some of our busiest times are during the school holidays, when families flock to the countryside or coast in the the hopes of a sunny stay in the Easter, May half term or summer breaks. Sun protection in the UK is often overlooked, particularly if the temperatures are cooler or the skies appear cloudy, which could put you and your family at risk. That's why we want to make sure you have the right help and information to be able to keep your family safe in the sun, all year round.
We spoke to Dr Anita, dermatologist ambassador at Child's Farm, to find out why sun protection in the UK should be taken seriously:
"Even on cloudy or cooler days, UV rays can penetrate through clouds and reach your skin, which means you can still suffer skin damage without realising it. These are often the days where people are caught off guard and get sunburnt".
