European holiday parks in Holland


The sea is inextricably linked with Dutch history and culture – after all, more than half the land lies below sea level and has been reclaimed over many centuries. This gives rise to a unique landscape of polders, canals, dykes and windmills. With few hills and wide vistas, it’s a cyclist’s paradise.

Like the UK, the Dutch cherish a history as a great trading nation and a meeting place for cultures from around the world – you will find a warm and friendly welcome for everyone. They are great linguists. Most Dutch speak English, particularly when discussing the merits of football teams.

The magnificent city of Amsterdam, with its network of canals typifies this international outlook: cosmopolitan and friendly, but with a character that is uniquely Dutch. Other cities boast their own attractions – from the pottery of Delft to the antiquity of Maastricht.

The Dutch penchant for trading continues – not just in their international business, but also in markets held in towns and villages up and down the country. The most famous of these are the huge markets for flowers and cheese which prove a great attraction for visitors.

You would have to go a long way to find a warmer holiday welcome.
