The barn has been converted to a good standard whilst retaining some of its original features, including exposed oak beams which gives it the character it deserves. Bowness and Windermere are only a 20-minute drive away.

Bandrake Barn is nestled in the Parish of Colton next to the village of Oxen Park which has an excellent pub and restaurant that has been refurbished, and a cinema just a 5-minute walk away. You can travel up the coast road past Silecroft which offers a great open beach and on to Ravenglass with the La’al Ratty (Little Railway) which goes for 7 miles up to the village of Boot. During the evening you can sit back and relax in the beautiful well-maintained garden and light the barbecue. Bandrake Barn is in a perfect location for exploring the Lake District fells, mountains, lakes and forests. Beach 9 miles. Shop 3 miles and pub serving food 800 yards.

We really enjoyed our stay at Bandrake Barn which was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The decor is quirky but a little dark for my taste, but that’s just my opinion and it fits in well with the style. Lynn our host was extremely helpful and lovely, upon hearing that we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary she presented us with a bottle of prosecco, she also posted some items back to us which we left behind - Thank you again Lynn. The Barn is about a 30 minute drive to Windermere and 20 minutes to Ulverston but there are plenty of lovely walks in the surrounding area which our two dogs absolutely loved. The Manor House pub which is a 10 minute walk from the Barn is worth a visit, the food and cocktails were excellent. We would definitely recommend Bandrake Barn and will hopefully visit again.

A beautiful barn, In a beautiful location. Very well equipped for everything we needed. Spotlessly clean, immaculate garden, a real treat to come back to after a day out in the Lake District. Great pub down the road, Manor house in Oxen park, one of the best meals out in a long time. Great hosts, make you feel welcome, and nothings to much trouble. Very comfortable beds, and best of all a dressing table with mirror and electric socket, something no other holiday cottage we have stayed in has managed to give us. A big plus after a long day out in the mountains, trying to salvage what you can for a night out. Thankyou for a wonderful break, hope to revisit another time, would definitely recommend.

I booked this wonderful property for 3 nights to celebrate my partner's birthday along with our 5 month old son and Monty the dog. We were made to feel very welcome and upon realising that it was Lucy's birthday, within seconds we were provided with a chilled bottle of prosecco! The decor and attention to detail is great. The kitchen has everything you could possibly imagine, including a dishwasher and food processor. We thoroughly enjoyed our cosy evenings in, safe from the wind and rain outside. We will definitely be back during the summer to enjoy the garden and everything it has to offer. Thanks for a special weekend. Ryan, Lucy, Frankie and Monty.

Fantastic cottage which is beautifully decorated. Owners are a lovely couple who will help with any problems or enquiries. Easyish walk to Bessy Bank Forrest which is well worth the time to visit. Local inn is the Manor Park which serves excellent food and is about 10 minute walk away. Would we go back......YES!

A really lovely house. It was spotlessly clean upon our arrival, and so very cosy and very well equipped. The location was super - so peaceful and relaxing with lovely walks on the doorstep, yet only 10 mins or so from Ulverston. Our hosts, Lynn and Andrew, were simply charming and were clearly committed to ensuring we had an enjoyable time. The best comment I can make is to say that we fully intend to return. Fully recommended!!

Excellent location ideal for all of the local attractions and long walks. Very comfortable but found the downstairs bed too large, but appreciate why. Local amenities are a bit lacking especially if you have forgotten something. All in all a great cottage
