Caernarfon foreshore on the Menai Strait is a few minutes’ walk and the magnificent World Heritage Caernarfon Castle and walled town of Caernarfon are just 15 minutes’ walk. Caernarfon Castle is Wales’s most famous castle and was built in the 13th century. The beautiful town is steeped in history as a result of this and its narrow streets are now home to restaurants, inns and shops. There is a swing bridge for pedestrians and bikes to the town and the stylishly redeveloped waterfront is well worth a visit.
Caernarfon Golf Club is also nearby on the shores of the world-famous Menai Straits. A scenic parkland course with stunning views with lovely homemade food in their restaurant. For the rail enthusiasts, the Welsh Highland steam train station is just by the harbour and begins its journey from beneath the castle walls. It is the UK’s longest heritage railway running 25 miles between Caernarfon and Porthmadog; zig-zagging through picturesque scenery on the way.
The award-winning sandy beach at Dinas Dinlle is only 7 miles away and offers easy access to an expanse of golden sands. It also has two slipways so is a popular destination for jet skiers, power boaters, scuba divers and windsurfers. Snowdonia National Park is only a few miles from Caernarfon so it makes the perfect base for an abundance of days out with the family.
